That Richmond is a great equalizer!!

Take the RPM's to 2000 on take off and run her hard through the gears.
If you have a lower numerical rear end, drive the RPM's a little higher
on take off.

You should not have a problem, but....you may or may not have the car clunking and shaking on driving in 6th at 1200rpm through the streets.....not sure about the small block.

You'll need a bigger carb with that duration too, speed demon at least but probably a mighty demon.....that thing will breath and would like to be fed.

If you do a high percentage of city driving, you might find that you will never get past 4th gear.....like I said she would clunk and shake at lower RPM's in 6th and maybe even 5th.

My 02....which will inevitably ripped apart and then we all learn

Talked to AR Racing. He said that the 108 centerline is definately the LSA. He said that based on compression, heads, etc., the 406 does NOT have a weak bottom end. I asked him about right off idle power, and he said very responsive.

He did say that the 383 with the dart heads and a 106 seperation angle is more peaky (D or square port heads or something or other).

He also said that they will change cams/intakes no charge. Thus, I could request a milder cam in the 406 or 383 if I wanted.

Anybody have any thoughts as to the best way to go? Engine going into a 6-speed car.

One thing you do not have to worry about is low end power with a 406ci. You might be more worried about how many transmissions you are going to blow because there is too much torque.

The cam I have in mine is supposed to make peak power in the 6500 RPM and it will make more HP than torque, so you could say it is a high revving "peaky" motor untill you see the torque line, believe me it does not bog off the line

A 406ci can take alot more cam than a 350 or 383 but if you want to be safe you can go down a few degrees in duration and compensate with 1.6 rockers.

Not knocking you but if I were you I would go with a 112 LSA, mainly because it will idle better and be easier to tune. It will also make a little more low end and possibly top end power, if will suffer in average power. The 248 at .050 would not concearn me in a 406 or even a 383 for that matter. It is really not that radical.
