I believe you can, but I'd check with a local speed shop to verify, I know I can add them to my 76 no problem.

Below are the instructions for trimming the lower trim panel if it's required. Try test fitting first. This is for my 73, I don't see why it would be different for an 80-82.

While on the topic of Hooker headers and side pipes......

Some of you may know my posts a few months ago about my "Stainless Steel" which were in fact 'metallic ceramic thermal barrier coated' headers.

Anyway, they peeled and rusted after one year.

Earlier today I took them to a local metal coating shop and had them completely sandblasted with aluminum oxide....apparently this stuff leaves a smooth surface but punctures deeply into the metal due to the particles being sharp and thin.

I bought some F1500 resistant 'flat silver' paint and had the headers painted with that and F1500 resistant 'flat black' and had the side pipes painted black.

If it looks like crap (can't look worse than right yesterday) I will have my 90" 308SS truck stack bent and cut in half and installed.

Question now:
Do any of you know of a way to make those black side pipes look like chrome by painting something onto them that will last without having to send them a few thousand miles in the mail??

They will fit. I didn't even have to cut anything and I'm running angle plug heads and can use a socket on all except #1

The previous owner put these on the car. He did have the ac removed from the car. I'm not sure if the bracket gets in the way or not.

I have the spiral turbo baffles... they are having a "Christmas" special that expires Oct 8 2004... $299 includes shipping. I bought them because of the praise a friend gave about them... plus what I read about them.

I don't have them installed yet... or the side pipes... or the headers... or the big block... wanted to have it done by the 25th for a show... but there are some things I want to take care of first... don't want to rush it all.

My '73 had the small block version installed... with A/C... it has the same cuts shown in the diagram above.

I have stainless hooker sidepipes w/ JCL spiral turbo baffles(71 SB vert). I'm very happy, Sound awesome even with a mild SB. It should sound even better soon when it's not so mild
BTW I also got the stainless heat shields so passengers don't get burned, haven't fit them yet, on the "to do list". Don't know why this list seems to always get longer....
Cheers
