I see the before picture has different valve covers than the after picture. Do you still have the edelbrock valve covers? Do you want to sell them? Are they in good shape? I also noticed the after picture is using Edelbrock pro flo EFI. Let me know what you think of the system because my pro flo setup is on order to deliver in a couple weeks.

Love the fuel injection idea. Hopefully that will be my next mod when the time comes. That motor is gonna be sweet when you get it installed and running.

sorry i didnt know that i didnt add that info in my profile but it is fixed now. as for the oil filter ive been using fram and bosch sense ive been driving. both seem to work well keeping the engine clean but if you have a better suggestion i am all ears i never pass up good suggestions. anyways im in the D.C. area just off 95. thanks for all the complaments. oh yea one more thing the block is the matching numbers block but everything else is new basically. my mom had the engine rebuilt and drove it for 1000 miles and then parked it and its sat in the same spot for the past 5 years and i finally talked her into letting me have it. you could still see honing marks in the cylenders adn there was not a spot of rust inside the engine from sitting all that time.

very nice work

I am torn about what I am so impressed with about you. Quality of workmanship, great wealth or vast amounts of time and energy!

tell me about your fuel injection system...

great job

Please replace that Fram with almost anything else soon. AC Delco is cheap and much better. Fram was bought out by someone (can't remember who) and they don't make the filters the same as they used to. The filter media is paper and it is glued into the can. Many of these filter have failed because of the paper separating from the can and blocking the oil flow. There have been a ton of posts on this subject. I wouldn't even use a Fram for break-in. Hopefully someone else will post that has some of the links to the tests of a bunch of different filters.
Nice engine!

well i had a 4 day weekend and spent about 10 to 14 hours a day trying to get the engine done..... well atleast most the way. i actually im not wealthy just got the car from my mom and also just re-enlisted in the Coast Guard for another 6 years so i took all my bonus and sold my 94 Jeep wrangler (i loved it more than anything well acept the vette that took me four years of begging to get from my mom) and a completly restored 60 VW bug and then went and got a 5K loan and put it all into this car and im still about 5k shy of finishing it. well the fuel injection kit is an Edelbrock Pro Flo EFI kit that i ordered from summit but as with most aluminum intakes it came unfinished and can oxidize and are hard to clean so i got that and the valve covers powder coated and i also installed a new XE284H cam from comp cams in it and new edelbrock performer rpm heads and also got some crane cam roller rockers and cromoly pushrods for it but havent installed them yet sense i have to wait till i get paid on friday so i can go get a new oil filter and some oil then i can i install them and start the adjusting part of the engine project. oh yah i removed a crapy rusted chrome oil pan and replaced it with a polished aluminum finned pan with a one peace oil pan gasket from summit also. i really like the way the gasket went on and i am almost 100% sure that im not gonna get any leaks from that area and i also installed a 2 piece timing cover so i dont have to remove the pan if i have to adjust the cam or decide to put timing gears on later like i am thinking of doing. but the down side to this is i also got a march surpentine pully conversion kit that comes with everything including an aluminum short style water pump that hits the timing cover so now i have to find out if they make shims for the water pump or im gonna have to have one made. it also came with a new polished aluminum altinator, polished aluminum A/C compressor, power steering pump, and belt tensioner i'll get pictures of it all installed as soon as i fix the clearance prob with the water pump and timing cover. so till next weekend work is at a stand still thanks for the complaments guys.
