I am pretty frustrated right now. Can't seem to get any spark out of my 74 BB. The car has been in storage while I was on an overseas assignment. Just before storage I put in a new distributor (point/cond) and engine compartment harness and the car ran fine. Now I cannot get a spark out of the ignition sysytem. The car turns over fine, but no spark. I have checked the voltage coming from the starter, 12-14 volts while cranking. Voltmeter says the wire is good between the coil and ig switch. Coil tested bad, so I bought a new one and a new condenser and put those in. STILL NO SPARK! Anyone got another suggestion for the electrically challenged?
Take off the distributor.
Get a fine file and clean the button of all rust inside the distributor at the tip.
Clean with a rag
Now spray a drop of RustCheck on the rag and rub it on the little button that you just filed and cleaned.
Pu the distributor back and fire up your toy!!!
...or just buy a new distibutor, but the above is a quick and easy fix!
