There are lots of choices but you want 114 lobe center, 112 works but stay away for 110. You want to build cylinder pressure. The cam in not as important blown as with normal aspirated. Same with the heads. Big cc intakes still give lots of bottom end torque.
I run my 8-71 15 % overdriven for snappy around town down low boost.
Jetted lean I get around 15 mpg, plugs stay clean, I run accel #276 and a mix of #274 in the very lean front corners.
My cam is the old standby 244 duration 623 lift from comp but I am not happy with it., The idle caracteristics are great, the lift is easy on springs and gas mileage is good.
You will love the blower once you get it together.
Sorry I couldn't help you with a cam . How about checking Weiands web site. They have a collection of recommended blower cams.

Thank's for the reply guy's
I've got my eye on a couple, but am still trying to narrow it down.

Solid roller sticks run at around $600-700 out here so it would be nice not to have to buy more than two or three before finding the right one

So far i've liked thye look of these two:
Crane #138781 and
Herbert#cbh2-114lc

cheers

I have always had good luck with Crane cams. What are the specs on the Crane. I paid $400 CDN for my Comp roller and $400 for the roller lifters

That is close to mine. I have .623 lift and 244 duration at .050 with 112 lobe centers. yours is actually a little better then mine. I find my duration a bit small.
The lower lift will make it easy on the valve train.
I am anxious to read posts on your impressions when you get it finished.

Norval, don't hold your breath waiting to see how mine goes ........my wife has told me it's a "long term project" thingy

I've been buying stuff for 10 months and already i'm re-thinking some of my bits

Cam has been re-thought and now is(purchased):
Crane Part# 138791
Lift:in-636
ex-636
Duration@ .050: in-254
ex-262
LC-114

RR-3500-7500, float@8000

And am currently thinking of changing out my new Gen VI HO block for a Merlin III ......so who knows where it will end.

Also got a price on my injection.....$12Gorillas.

It's 'gonna be slow but we'll get there

Is this a street car? The cam is getting a little hairy. I ran a 256/264 duration @ .050 for a while with my nitrous motor but found for the blower it didn't need that much duration. The blower changes everything. Gone are those 7500 rpm shifts, the motor is just as strong in the 5000 range.
As for spending $12000 on injection what is wrong with proper carbs, normal holleys don't work as well with blower applications.
I bought normal 850 double pumpers then spent a full day on each carb modifying it for blowers. Holley already does this if you order the right carb.
As for gas mileage I am in the 14 mpg range around town with about 50% highway driving. I have never tried it completely on the open road. Your injection will be hard pressed to do much better.
As for blocks why do you need another?? Is this a race car of something you want to enjoy on the street.
My 4 bolt main 454 block has seen many many 7500 rpm shifts in the past before the blower and now like I said before the torque is so strong with the blower that you don't have to push those rediculous rpms.
I even dumped the 411 gears for 308's because I was overgeared for the torque of the motor.
RPM kills motors faster then putting 12 pounds of boost through them.

The car will have rego, but i don't believe it will see a great deal of street time.
The injection is a personal choice. I have no doubt that a properly setup
pair of holleys would do the same job, but injection is what i'm after.

As for the block thing, there are a few reasons why i'm thinking of changing it out. I have a two piece rearseal crank and i don't really like the look of the cheesy adapter.
I've heard recently of improperly aligned lifter bores(chewing out cams)wich then have to be then bored and sleeved.
I plan on not buying\building another engine for some time so an engine that would give me quite a few rebores would be good also.

I also like the look of the old mark iv blocks over the gen v\vi blocks and seeing how i've already bought my pistons,a new block is the only option if i decide to change the block out.
