Default A What If....

Here is the theoretical question Im pondering.

Is it possible to mate the rear deck flat glass section of a 70s Corvette to the 80s style Vette? Could you make the T-tops match up? Has it ever been done and can it be done PRACTICALLY.

My thing is that I love the front half and the interior of the 80s, but I dont like the rear glass as much as I like the rear decks of the 70s...what do you guys think, can it be done?

Default umm

u can get a 80 style front bumper for a 70 and i think the interior can be swapped .... the only issue might be the gauges on driver side.... possible..... i also think u can get an 80's top for a 70's and vise versa..some moding in the brackets though

I dont own a 70s style though...I found a company the manufactures the top decks all the way from 68-82....just a matter of can it fit properly. I mean the C3 lines ARE the same from at least 73 onward if Im not mistaken....

I think it would be easier to start with an 80's and try to make the fiberglass work

Which is what I wanna do...Anyone own the 2 eras or know how the lines go precisely? The only thing Im concerned about..well 2 things... are contours, and the T top. Everything else is just a matter of some fiberglass.

I know the fiberglass front ends at the bumpers are different. Look at the chrome bumper front end, it makes a V. Now, look at yours, in the middle the Urethane turns up towards the windshield in the middle.

Now the rear, that is a whole 'nother can of worms. Realistically, you can do anything if you possess the talent or the cash to hire the talent. Theoretically, since the cars were very similar, you should be able to graft the an early shark onto a later shark. Easy to do, doubt it. Possible, probably.

I know that Wackedvette has a 68 with the 78-82 back half. He is replacing the rear rubber bumper with a 68-77 rear panel. Haven't seem him post for a while, but last I remember, he had it roughed in.

I say you just get over the whole "I like the 80's front end and interior" and just buy a 70's
