Default Need a Carb now

Well my Quadrajunk has earned its name. Besides the leaks and running rediculously rich, and inability to set things correctly (how much of that is my own fault I don't know) a little thingy has just fallen out from under the secondary rod hanger, and the rods don't actuate anymore. I can't tell where it's supposed to be, but it must've come loose when I had the aircleaner hold-down out and had the thing upside down. Maybe it's just that I'm at my wits end with this thing, but now it's backfiring, not idleing, pouring smoke (white/greyish), and completely undriveable.

So my question is, does anyone have a working carb I can buy from them? As long as it's at least 600cfm or so, and has recently been working properly on a car. Qjet would be preferred so I don't have to relearn how to tune it, but really I just need to be on the road so I can get to work. Any other suggestions are welcome, I'm just kindof in a state of panic at the moment. I don't have alot of money (student) so a new carb is probably out of the question. I can spend maybe $200 max.

Thanks,
Chris

Contact Recarbo. They have website. I am sure you can get a rebuilt quadrajet (they do good work) for less that $200 and I bet they will take yours. Or, send it to Lars or to Recarbo for rebuoilding.

my recomendation is go to your local advance auto, tell them you want an edlebrock Q-jet, 600cfm, it will be there tomorrow morning at 9:30 am

then install, its similar in design to your quadrajet and all the hosses hook up to the same place.

Contact Lars, perhaps he has a loaner carb he can send you. Then you can send him your QJet for rebuild and tuning. It will be within your budget. That is by far the BEST thing you can do.

Please note the QJet is a spreadbore carb. The Edelbrock Performer is a squarebore carb and would require an adaptor for your intake manifold...or a replacement manifold.

I have a quadrajet that I took off my 78 L82. It is only about 2 years old and you can have it for $75 plus shipping. It ran very good. I went with vortec heads and a matching intake so I couldn't use it anymore.

A new Q-jet replacement carb is around $400! (according to summit) I'm already in contact with Lars, if he can't do the rebuild thing for me, I'll contact one of you guys. Thanks for being so quick to help a brother in need

I'm curious as to why you couldn't use the Qjet with the Vortec setup??
