Nowhere in the ad does he say that it's "original" or "oem". He says "appears to be" and since one word is wrong, I would guess he's covered against copyright claims. He's probably printing them himself and hoping no one looks close at the pic!
A lot of repro decals have mistakes. I bought an emissions decal fom Zip and it had the words year and carburetor spelled wrong. They refunded my money.
Works for sport mirrors, too. I can't find any difference between the Corvette versions and the ones used on 3/4 of the GM car line.
Batman,
These mirrors (Camaro/Firebird) look exactly the same, until you compare the pedestal. It is an inch shorter. You will end up with a great view of your rear fender, of course you also get a pretty good view of your rear fenders with the Corvette ones...
If you're retrofitting them, be very careful of door placement, that will also affect your field of view and as I said the correct ones when installed correctly are not the best regarding field of view... but they do look great!!!
When I compared some from a Monte Carlo to those known to originate on a 'Vette, they certainly seemed to be the same. I have one Monte Carlo and one Pontiac mirror on the '77 now, and the view in the mirrors is exactly how the owner's manual shows it should be.
I used a template from Eckler's for the positioning, and it worked great.
The field of view may not be the best, but it's far better than having one mirror on the driver's side that has to be repositioned every time the door is closed.

For those of you who missed out on the blue Corvette sticker bidding war....the bids are now closed. The winning bid for this authentic, original imitation was........$204.21
I guess the misspelling of the word standErd was what clinched the deal.

Here's one that doesn't say it's for corvette! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4504250807
Amazing how much more people pay when that "Corvette" word is on there! Same thing happens with "marine" parts. Put a fish or anchor on the pkg and you can then quadruple the price!!

DC1318 at the bottom of the page. $10.50 sounds better than $204.21, and you get the right spelling.
On a similar note, Jim Osborn shows a assembly line build sheet (presumably blank) that would be cool to have. Is it possible to reproduce (fill in the blanks) one based on what a car is equipped with?
I'm not into passing it off as something it's not (a huge problem with the BOSS 302's), but a window sticker and build sheet would be cool.
People really need to learn to search to see if a product is still available new or for a fixed price or even FREE elsewhere before bidding on e-bay. There are so many things on e-bay that you can still buy for cheap elsewhere on-line.
My favorite thing is the patent print-outs there on e-bay. All you have to do is go to uspto.gov and get it for free. Granted, some you have to have the design patent number in order to locate the patent (can't search for the old ones by keyword or name).
If I cared.. (not sure if I do or not, ) I would ask an experienced NCRS interior judge about the spelling on the sticker. My NCRS Tech Info Manual & JG is inconclusive. Concerning the Blue Certification Label it only says the label is on cars produced after Sept 1, 1969. There is a small black and white picture of a label, but it is so fuzzy I can't read the word "STANDARDS" clearly anyway.
But hypothetically, even if there was something called an "NOS sticker" which I am a little skeptical about - Why would GM make and sell extra stickers that are only supposed to go on new cars? well, even if you had an NOS sticker, you would still have to print the month/year and vin on it, which would make it an obvious fake! So to me, even if this sticker was exactly what it was represented to be, the buyer would be a complete moron even if he was going for a perfect 104 point NCRS restoration. Personally, my bet would be on a total shill auction.
