install 3.73 gears, rebuild entire rear suspension, replace lower front control arm bushings, If budget and time allows then Dart heads and cam, 700R4 transmission. phew, that sounds like a lot of work.

Head swap (from stock to Summit/Iron Eagle SS).
Rear strut rods.

Oh...and drive it. Winter is the BEST time for driving Vettes down here

well i am new to this board. the reason for my joining is that i am looking into buying a 79. the problem with this car is that it is a basket case. it has been torn down to paint. being that i didnt tear it down i am hesitant to jump in. i can get the car for 3k. the car was running in 95 when it was parked. is this a good price for this car or should i wait for a better deal? i am definately set on a c3. the car does not have a stitch of interior in it, but the body is in very good shape. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Install some trick exhaust , aluminum flywheel , new billet air cleaners for my dcoe's, and a new billet shifter handle and remove the 3:7's and install 3:5's . That should keep me busy for a bit !

Always buy the best car you can up front. Only buy a basket case if you know exactly what you're doing. It will cost you MUCH more in the long run to rebuild a basket case than it would have to buy a nice one in the first place.

Winter? What's that? Things to do over the next few months...

Clean the brake dust off the wheels.
Vacuum carpet.
Make that plate to cover the cowl.
New rear speakers.
Drive the vette every day.

Vette driving season has just arrived down here in the Lone Star state! I personally do summer projects, because sometimes my car will sit idle for 3 wks at a time in July/August/Early Sept..C3s were definitely desgined in MI and not Texas...(no dissrespect meant towards my friends to the North)

Where do I start?
New rear spring, rear end cover, rear bearings, shocks, ball joints, idler arm, all u-joints, front bearings, fix driver's window, fix headlight system, fix broken driver's seat, new paint job (that one I won't do), new belts, hoses etc. When I'm done with these minor projects I'll probably rebuild the engine since it's burning about a quart every 300 miles. Hmmmm. Maybe I got screwed on this thing.

First on my list is to finish my true dual installs. Hope to finally wrap that up after starting and stopping work on it for the past two months. After that I get to open all those boxes that are stacked in the garage and contain my new interior. You did say winter '06 right?

Let's see...

Finish going through everything after it's sat for 8 years, clean and paint engine compartment, install new 406, and.... oh yeah, prep and paint!

When I get time (after I finish our bathroom rmodel) I'll install the new intake, fuel filter & lines with a regulator and pressure guage. Then adjust valves and give it a proper tune up. After that I need to decide on new tires (maybe rims too) and get the alignment done. Should be spring by then and time to drive again.
