I have a 75 Vert and I noticed today,(I used the heater for the first time) when I have the fan running on the top two speeds and I turn the engine off, the engine continues to run for about 1 sec (which is a long time after you turn the key to off) . When the fan switch in the 2 lower speeds, the engine turns off correctly (immediately). Has this happened to anyone? AND is it hurting anything?
By-the-By, this summer I had to have the ignition wire re-wired (by the Chevy dealership) directly from the battery through the ignition to the starter solinoid AND I ran the A/C on high speed and did not notice this "problem".

thats interesting , i have a 77 coupe so what i say may not apply to your car.... i would start by un plugging the fan blower connections on top of the htr box in the engine compartment and retry your "diagnois test" it will be intereseting to see if it repeats itself or not....
My guess would be the blower fan motor is acting like a generator and while freespinning after it loses power, its sends power back into the system. When it was rewired a wire or 2 (or 20) could have been missplaced or chopped up to make everything work and a wire may run to the coil from the blower motor. A ground possibly. Hard to say but just a guess. Justin

How would you trace that? Does it hurt the electrical system?
It wouldnt hurt anything. But I would try unplugging the switch to see if it does the same thing. It could have something to do with the alternator too. Sending power back into the system. Electrical problems are the worst. By the way Im taking GM electrical systems classes so this is where Im getting this from. Sounds bogus but it happens.

Thanks! I will try it in the a.m. (after I wash and wax her...it's suppose to be clear and high is going to be 68f) As long as it doesn't hurt anything and that's the only problem I have...then I have ALOT to be Thankful for on this Thanksgiving..... I will keep you posted on my findings....
