A few weeks ago I was out driving and brakes went weak and the brake light would come on when I pressed them hard. Based on what I read inthe manual and advice fropm the forum, it appeared to be a master cylinder failure. so I ordered new one and spent today trying to install it. Well, have it installed and have attempted to bleed the brakes and test and I went from spngy brakes with some braking power to no brakes whatsoever.
Could this be caused by improper bleeding? Air still inthe system? Anything else?
Also, I bought a MityVac4050 vaccuum tool to use as a bleeder and seemt to work ok.
Any help (in NoVA) or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Shane
its very important to bench bleed the unit. It should have 2 plastic lines to route back to the reservoirs. Don't quit pumping it until you don't see bubbles anymore.
i bled mine on the car this way and think there may still be some air in it because when installed on the car the rod may not bottom all the way out in the master cylinder leaving a small amount of air.

and in addition, the Mity Vac won't work. You will have to bleed by gravity, or the old fashioned two-man unless you get a pressure bleeder.
Power bleeder is the way to go I spent about 2 hrs every night for a week trying to bleed my brakes took 5 minutes with a power bleeder and they were great when I got done. My car is a weekend driver so after it sits for the winter I like to pull the wheels drain the fluid from the master cylinder and bleed the brakes the power bleeder I bought cost me $75.00 and is worth every penny IMHO
