Default Jet Hot

I just wanted to know what your feelings on Jet Hot are? My dad's friend said we should get it for our side pipes / headers, and I especially want to treat them because there is some rust underneath. They are currently chrome, but I believe Jet Hot would be better, seeing that I would like to do more performance mods, then anything else.

Also, my dad wanted to know how much cooler the pipes would be using Jet Hot, as we were thinking of putting covers over the pipes, but if we use jet hot, will it be to a degree that won't be that hot?

Thank you,

kosta

I can't comment on how much cooler the pipes would be, I would think the radiant heat would be the same. The coating works well, I live near the ocean where EVERYTHING gets moisture/sweats even kept indoors. My headers look brand new and have seen no sign of corrosion to date...

I have the Jet Hot coated headers and pipes and they look great. Of course, mine are dirty underneath from road dirt but they clean up pretty easy using billet polish. The pipes do get hot but they cool off very quickly. I added the heat shield to prevent burns.

Mine were chrome and had discolored badly near the heads, had a little rust between the tubes at the collector when I sent them off to Jet-Hot.
I can't tell much difference in temp,(I know they are friggin hot so I don't touch them) and they still have a little rust between the tubes, but all in all I think next to stainless it's the way to fly

71coupe already had the pipes and headers and had them coated. Here is my cost from scratch:

Headers and pipes direct from Jet Hot: $1080 (forum discount)
JCL Baffles: $300
Cobrastuff heat shields: $200
Sound and looks: Priceless

Actually JetHot was great to deal with. I had one pipe get bent in transit and they replaced it no questions asked.

I can never remember the cost...but I think their web site has general prices, you can call for a quote and a forum discount....

So it's a forum discount, and wasn't a group purchase type deal?

there is some rust on them now underneath, but nothing to major. That should not be aproblem, correct?

I just want to figure out if we're better off getting new ones, but dont know.

thank you,

kosta

I belive new ones...direct from Jet Hot...have a lifetime rust warranty. I went that route and paid in the neighborhood of $1100 for the system. That does not include the baffles.

They will definitely burn your leg. Ask me how I know... I'm fabricating heat shields right now.

my exhaust manifolds dont look like they did when i first put them on after jet coating,,and its not because of lack of polishing. the exhaust manifolds gets too hot. the coating still looks o.k.- but it dulled up. i called air borne coatings about this and i was told to send them back for a re-coat for 1/2 off....just dont feel its worth it ,,if the stuff really doesnt hold up like they claim ..so am i supposed to keep e taking them off and paying for shipping on those heavy things just to do it over and over -so i can get it 1/2 off??????????- they should come to chicago from north carolina and take them off them selves and put them back on for me! notice dulled exhaust manifolds in photo after less than 1,000 miles----------

I have jet hot coated headers and ordered chrome side pipes, sent them back and got jet hot, IMHO I like the jet hot finish much better it adds thickness to the pipes and just makes them look more durable, I don't think you can go wrong with Jet Hot.
