Default Removing window tint, any tips?

Hey all, My vette came from Florida with the side windows tinted and now that it's aged, I'd like to remove it. I might put a light tint back on later, but the old dark stuff needs to go

TIA

heat gun or hair dryer and lots of 3M all purpose cleaner...some razor blades, and it should strip off with no problem.

I have removed many tinted windows. Just get a corner pulled up and peel it off. Try not to scrape unless you have to.
Most window tint glue is will come off with warm soapy water. If that does not work, then you can try windex with ammonia or 3M adhesive remover, but I have always had good luck with warm soapy water. Use an old credit card as a scraper with the water and I think you will do o.k.

It's usually two layers. There's the hard, protective layer which can be peeled right off. And then there's the actual tint which is much softer. It can be peeled, but very slowly. One trick I saw tint shop do was to peel off the hard stuff then hit the entire window with Simple Green and throw a black trashbag over it. Then they just let it sit in the hot Florida sun for a couple hours. Come back out, remove bag, and it lifts right off with a plastic scraper in seconds.

Use a NEW credit card for a scraper and with any luck you will destroy the card before you can max it out on more go fast look good sound cool goodies :-)

Any good ideas on how to remove the stuff from a rear window that has the defroster without removing the wires?

I tried to remove tint from my hatch on my 87 Trans Am with Simple Green. I didn't have much luck. I shot 409 on it full strength and watched tint come loose and start running down the glass.

I use GM glass cleaner from the local dealership. Spray it on and let it soak a while and the goo comes off with little effort. Don't know what's in it but it works well!
