Default 68 corvette rallyes

Hey guys need some quick insight on rallyes for the 68..

I know these are 15x7 rallyes and they are 68 specific..

How does one identify them?
how are they different from other rallyes of the same size?
What is the backspacing?

and lastly...

What are they worth?

Thanks loads...

1968 Rally wheels are coded "AG" ONLY. '69-'82 Steel rallys were coded "AZ" near the valve stem.

Not sure about the backspacing. I believe "AZ" wheels are 4.5in. '68s with their original wheels should be the same.

The same trim ring that fits '69-'82 steel rallys fits '68s contrary to popular belief. It was NOT a different trim ring like '67 which some people believe. Difference is the back circumference edge of the trim ring fits almost right against the face of the wheel whereas on a '69-'82(again, an "AZ" wheel), there is a one inch gap from the back edge of the trim ring to the wheel "face". Once you "see" & know the difference, you can spot them a mile away

Paul, I was told that these are the factory wheels for my '68. Can you confirm?

fauxrs, 69-82 8" rims had 1/2" offsets. I want to say 68 7" rims had 1/4" or so?

CGGorman, this is a trick question right?

Pretty sure that the 69-up AZ 8" wheels are 4" backspacing.

From what Paul says with the trim ring, maybe 68s are also 4".

CGG - remove the trim ring, and the AG or AZ code is stamped
in the steel rim - next to the valve stem.

The 8" rims have 4" backspacing. The change from 7" to 8" increased the gap between the wheel and trim ring, so that means the 7" were also 4" backspacing. 67's had 6" ralley wheels, that's why the trim rings were different. Monte Carlo ralley wheels were also 15x7. Joe

OK kids, listen up-you read it HERE first. "AZ" '69-'82 wheels have a 4 inch backspacing. 1968 "AG" wheels have a 3.75 inch(3 & 3/4")backspacing......

are you just busting chops? not that there is anything wrong with that!

Step 1, see if they are AG wheels
if yes, then
Step 2, check the dates to see if they predate the build date of your car. If yes, then they could possibly be original to your car, but no way to tell for sure.

I have 68 AG wheels but they postdate my car so cannot be THE original wheels.

Those wheels appear(from what I can see in the pic)are a custom offset "Wheel Vintique" rim. I do not believe that is even a stock Chevrolet Rally wheel.

...I was wondering when someone would take a nibble at this one

I like 17" vintiques - it's one of my current finalists I'm 'tire kicking' at getting. My only complaint is a minor one that the chromed rim looks just like that rather than a smoother beauty ring look but not the end of the world.
