When shopping for a C-3 what areas should I be looking for in regards to a problem area? I know to watch for repairs on the bottom of the hood corner opening, & the rust in the window post area ( can you see that without disassembly? ) ? What or where else should a person look for? I'm just getting started but so far I've found one "common problem" with my rear differential cover. One of the spring mounting ears was broken off. Covers are less than $100 but unless you plan on doing the labor yourself it could get expensive. Also you can end up with the "while I'm at it I might as well" syndrome that somebody else mentioned. Back there that includes a new spring, rear bearings, bushings, u-joints, brake lines etc. My broken cover quickly turned into over $700 in parts alone. The upside is that I plan on taking this car on some long trips so I shouldn't have to worry about anything flying apart back there.
Once you found a Vette that you want to buy, take it to a shop and have it inspected.
Check the trailing arm pockets for rust, the differential cover (as mentioned above) and of course the brakes...
