doghouse removal ?

I didn't realise it was a legitimate question either.
Robin

That is the only thing that I've ever called the "doghouse" on a vehicle.
It could also, on later models, be plastic with a foil coating inside. Also to prevent RF static and heat from the Dist.

Well if he wants to know how to remove the cover from the pictue above, he came to the right place.
I've had my dog out many times....oh wait I mean my twinkie.

The pos. are in front of the firewall, inside a pillar, in the wheel well behind the covers above the trailing arms and in the rear of the wheel well.
The fiberglass is all bonded & partly riveted to the birdcage. the firewall can be removed as a piece after the windshield, steering column and pedal box are removed, to access the rest you need to chisel away all the fiberglass, it is a lot of work.

rjc.... I am not sure exactly what you are trying to take apart? Can you give us some additional info......year, trans, engine perhaps what you are trying to get at? we are good at taking things apart......... thks bob
edit: sounds like Twin Turbo is right on track..
So the front clip???
Okay, let's answer that one then.....
It's pretty easy.
First remove the hood, remove the bolt in the nose bar, if there, disconnect lights (or remove), horns and vac. stuff. Basically get as much stuff out of the way as you can. The rad & frame don't have to be removed, I took the front off with the inner fenders still in place.
Remove the rocker moldings under the door and any screws there attaching the front clip glass to the U channel under the door.
Then with the doors open (don't have to be removed) start chiseling from the underside w/ a sharp putty knife. Carefully go all the way up to the edge in the body line (1/2 way up roughly, it's where the pointy end of the door skin is at it's most forward pos) Then go to the top and near the hood latches cut through the strip running the length of the wiper cowl area. Start chiseling there and carefully work your way to the sides and down. You should be able to reach where you stopped from below fairly easy.
When done do the same chiseling and prying (wedges will work) inside the fenders.
That's about as detailed a desription as I can give. I did the same for a buddy some time ago and it took me about an hour or so after removal of all the misc. pieces to chisel the front end off without any damage to the fiberglass. Remember never to force it off by pulling, the bond will not crack, your fiberglass will.
Here's a couple of pics, poor quality but they do show where to remove the bonding adhesive.
