Default Intake and carb

I'm thinking about putting a new intake manifold and carb under the hood, but thats the key...under the hood. What is a good setup for a 71 BB that will increase hp as much as possible and still fit under the hood?

Good luck. As far as I know Edelbrock has only 1 manifold that will fit under the stock hood and it is a single plane (Torker II 2-0). I just baught a '68 390HP 427 intake for my '70 off of eBay. From what I can find out they made these for only 2 years, '68 and '69. It's an aluminum spread bore ment for the Q-jet. It is really not a performance manifold. I got it for the weight savings. The '70 to '72 manifolds were cast iron copies of these.

Like I said, good luck.

Ok, so it looks like there aren't many options for simply bolting something on under the hood..but I seem to remember a post a while back about peopl who had made various intakes and carbs fit under the hood. What are my options doing it this way and how can it be done? I remember something about drop base air cleaners...what about these? and where can I get them? Thanks a lot. Steven

Just get a stock '66-'67 427 Vette aluminum or cast iron manifold - these are Holley square bore manifolds and will fit under the hood. Then bolt on your choice of any Holley or BG performance carb and use the stock aircleaner.

Why not dual carbs? Try a C-66-O Dual-Quad. Edelbrock says more hp than a Torker II with more torque than a Performer. And more carbs just looks cool. And hood hieght ok. Yea man, a big rat with dual carbs. Make those sb's look like wienies.
Good luck and post with updates. cardo0
