No offense, but the idea behind the thread was the GIVING. If you weren't prepared to eat the shipping (per the instructions), perhaps you should have posted in the for sale forum...

Yep. Packing ain't cheap. Ever bought a big bag of those foam peanuts they use to pack

And here's another hint: FedEx Ground really is cheaper than UPS Ground. Faster too. Don't know why, but it's great.

onaqwst,

Did you go to one of those UPS stores? They are total BS! It's not UPS - its a private company. You'll pay for packaging and a sur charge in addition to the standard UPS rates. Very misleading. I do all my shipping now via DHL. They come and pick it up at my house.

UPS = Unconscienable Profit Scam

Damn-why don't some of you guys relax and stop being a jerk to this guy. That's alot of money to eat for shipping and if someone has a problem with paying for shipping for free stuff, then maybe you shouldn't participate. Some of you say, "The purpose was to this or that,yada yada yada....You know, that's part of the reason I sometimes get leery participating-because of these attitudes. The guy is being nice enough to give away alot of stuff. So because he'd like some help with shipping means he should not give stuff away? Give me a freaking break. Some people are never happy. Just because I have stuff that someone else can use doesn't mean I want to pay $200 to get rid of it all.

Yes, but don't ship anything breakable with Fedex groud. I sold one cracked and one good T-top on ebay. Shipped it Fedex ground usnig the same packaging that they were in when I received 2 good ones via UPS. Both were demolished by the time they got there. Turns out stuff like that is only insured for $100 even though I told the clerk what I was shipping, asked for insurance AND declared the value at $350.

Moral? Read the fine print
