Well I am so excited I just can't wait. My 1980 L82 will be here this coming Wednesday. I had it transported from Clearwater, Florida to Centennial, Colorado in an enclosed transport.
This is my question??
It has a Rebuilt Rochester Quadrajet Carburator, will I have to adjust it being I live in the mile high state? If so what has to be done? Maybe somebody that lives near me can help me out, I would really appreciated.
You need to talk to Lars (thats his Corvette forum name too). He lives in CO and there isn't anyone much better at Q-jets than him!
He's rebuilt one of mine and many, many others Q-jets of owners on this Forum. Depending upon how many beers he had the night before, he should respond around noon. Juuuuuuuuuuust kiddin' Lars

Whether the carb has been "rebuilt" or not, you really should go through it and set it up: I have yet to see a "rebuilt" carb that wasn't pretty screwed up in its setup. Your '80 was jetted fairly lean from the factory, so the stock jetting actually works pretty good up here in Denver if you just go through it, check all paramaters, and correct the mess-ups. Also, you really need to check that timing curve and get a good timing advance set up on that '80 - this will make a huge difference in throttle response and performance.
If you need help with it, bring it up to Lafayette and I'll set it up for you.

snakeman,
Hey glad to hear we got another c-3 in the Denver area. I too have a 80 L-82. I was over to Lars a couple of yrs. ago for his expertise on Quads. He's the man in the Denver area that's for sure. I don't know if your from this area or not but the altitude sure takes the pXss and viniger out of our engines.

Hi 8T8T2,
No I am not from Colorado, but my wife is she is from Canon. I love it here been here 3 years. I am waiting for the transport company to call me anytime now so I can receive my Vette. So if I may ask, will I be able to drive at least to Lars house so that he can check it out for me??. Where are you from? I live in Centennial, and work at 6th and Chambers at a training center. Sure would like to meet fellow Vette owners when the time is right.
snakeman,
I can't speak for Lars but I bet if you can get in touch with him you could work things out for him to take a look. No problem getting to his place, about a 1/2 hr. drive for from Golden area. I'm sure when your Vette arrives you'll want to drive it as much as possible. Just watch out for all the crud on the highways but you know that if you've been hear a couple of yrs. During winter months I put mine to bed until the gravel is off the road and weather warms up. Since this is your first Vette you havent had the thrill of working on these animals. It is quite an experience, always remember to count to 10 [sometimes 25] before throwing any tools. Been in Colo. all my life and work at Coors so if you want to stop by sometime I can offer you a cold one.
Just want to add one more thing. This forum is great. There are very knowledgable people here that are always willing to help.
