There was picture recently of a guy that took a picture of his carb with & without the air cleaner. If I remember right, it looked like the air cleaner was see through...how was that done? Can someone find the post?
I see you live on Long Island... This applies to you guys in LA as well...
Normal air is "see through". What you consider "normal" is considered a carcinogen to the rest of us. I highly recommend moving to a less populated area with more trees!
There are two basic ways of doing a shot like that. You need a tripod for either one.
1. Double exposure. You need a camera that allows this... typical point&shoot won't do it. Take a pic with shutter speed of half what it should be. Remove aircleaner and take second pic again with half shutter speed. Key is that double exposure is enabled which will take the second pic on top of the first one.
2. Use a long exposure time (shutter). Start taking the pic and halfway through the shutter time you remove the aircleaner as fast as you can. If you're fast enough and shutter speed long enough your hands won't show.

3. Get good with digital image editing and "photochop" it.
Here is the pic again... The pic changed place, so it doesn't exist in the previous post anymore.
As I said in the previous message, this picture was taken in a totally dark garage and I flashed with a separate flashlight first when the hood was open and then again when the hood was closed.
If you use a long exposure time in a dimmed space you will get a milky effect to the pic while you close / open the hood. In that case you have to wear totally black clothes to minimize the "milky" effect...
