Last week my 1977 L82 started running very rough
(it was missing). I replaced the rotor, coil and distributor cap. it still ran rough. Replaced plugs and wires. Problem fixed!! This morning it started missing again. Anybody got any ideas what to check??????

I haven't checked the timing yet. It did run very well for 1 day and as i was driving in this morning it began to idle rough and sounds like it is missing when you get on it.

Timing won't cause a miss. If you have an IR electronic thermometer, shoot the temp of the exhaust ports to identify the cylinder that's missing (cool port) and troubleshoot ignition and valvetrain issues back from there.

Put some Drygas (or similar water absorbing stuff) in the tank and drive it for a bit.....
Check the plug wires at each end and make sure they are pushed on tight. I installed new plug wires a couple of weeks ago and had the same problem as you, started up and drove it and all was ok, next time it had a miss. I found one wire at the distributor was not pushed on properly. Works fine now.
