converting my 79 from hot air choke to electric choke. where's the best place to connect the choke? i hear most people run to the alternator but that means a long "ugly" wire.
my MSD ignition is connected to switched 12 volt through the key switch wire (used to go to "Bat" connection in cap coil). it's connected with their jumper wire that has a "spare" female connection. is there any problem just running from choke back to jumper wire.
You want it switched so I wouldn't get it from the alternator. I also wouldn't get it directly from the ignition circuit. Not sure how much current it needs, but I might trigger a relay with the ignition wiring and pull power (fused somehow) from the starter + post. If not that then a wire from the fuse box on an "acc" terminal.

Run a wire from the wiper motor terminal. The wiper motor goes "hot" any time the ignition is on, and it's easy to conceal the additional wire with the rest of the harness in the firewall area. This also gives you the fringe benefit that you can pre-open the choke when you don't need it by switching the key to the "acc" position for a minute prior to start - this will shorten the choke cycle a bit on warmer days.

I followed Lars' advice after I originally had it hooked to the oil pressure wire. My oil pressure gauge would flutter around, and I think the extra voltage from the choke wire was causing it.
