Default Clutch Question

New 383 Build
I am accumulating parts for my new 383 to go into my 3300# (3450# with driver) 'vette. DD says 385 hp 435 # torque. Using a ST-10 4 speed and have a clutch question. Car wil be 99% street driven, has a 3.36 rear, and 27.2" tires. On very rare occasions I would probably launch @ about 2000 rpm.

I am looking at Centerforce clutches, both Centerforce 2 and dual friction. What would be a better choice, or is there some other brand I should look at?

BTW, what does a stock 350 flywheel weigh?

Thanks,

Either one is fine. The DF setup comes only as a complete set while the Centerforce 2 parts come individualy so you could service it later as needed. On a low torque engine you might be better off with the Centerforce 2 but with the 383 you can go either way.

If it were my car, I would buy the Centerforce 2 for that application.

I think the stock flywheel is like 30-35 LBS.

I am using the Centerforce 2 on my setup. It has taken all the abuse I can throw at it. Plenty of drag strip launches and plenty of abuse. I have around 420 HP on my setup and after 6K miles it is still holding up fine. The DF is a good setup also but a little more $$$.

I have Centerforce 2 on my 383/440hp and so far so good-----much superior to the original clutch

Had vibration issues with my Centerforce DF. Switched to a McLeod setup and have been happy.
