3.875" is about the longest stroke to do with a stock block, and that's pushing it. For 4", while it may be possible with the right block, you really want an aftermarket block. That's where these 427, 454, etc. SBs are coming from.
For what you want, and if you want forced induction, just stick with a 350 block (bored no more than you have to), and 3.75" stroke (custom crank, pointless to use a crank from a 400 as cheap as the customs are). You're not pushing the limits for a couple-10 more cubes where you could be focusing on optimising your setup for more power.
But, with any mods I do, its gotta be stock reliable. Come rain sun or snow, its got to start first time, drive perfectly to a destination and return without fault.
