I used to always use laquer thinner to wipe parts down before i painted them, but read i should use wax/degreaser, well i used that and the paint landed up shriveling(Spelling?) up and i now have to start over, i know someone here can point me in the right direction
I don't think the degreaser had anything to do with your paint bubbling up...did you wipe it off and leave a dry smooth surface? what type of paint are you dealing with here..the type of primer and color?

you need to use a solvent that is similar to your paint, for the final wipe down....all solvents are not equal....one way is to read the paint label and see what they say you can thin the product with...mineral spirits, laquer thinner, xylene etc are all different and will work on only on certain types of paint...we use CRC brake clean on most engine parts and it seems to work realy well with the rustoleum paints...
