Not to hijack the thread or anything but if the stock twin snorkle scoops were better for performance why does everyone remove them?

Have to disagree, the twin snorkle system is alot better in getting cool air to the carb than an open element. It doesn't look as good I agree, but most agree that it does a very good job, it was a great design by GM. Just mt 0.02

This is my "carshow configuration". I change the air cleaner, master cylinder cover and add the ignition cover. I always try to keep it clean regardless.

Hello,
I am going to try my first photo posting with this thread.
Here is the before photo on my 73 454.

And this is the in progress shot to where I am able to drive it this weekend.

I installed the chrome ignition cover, new valve covers and air cleaner. Thats about all the chrome I am going to do. The next project is to replace and reroute all of the emission hoses.

Red73,
That's a very nice spreader bar setup. Have you noticed any change in frame flex?

Unless the twin snorkle draws fresh air via ducts, it will draw warm air from the engine compartment...

OHSIXX, I don't know buddy. Some of these youngsters might have a shot at taking the "Most Chrome" award away from us old farts. (j/k). OK, here's my pic. This evolved over a long long time and every year I modify or repaint something so it's always an on going project.
