I always thought the open element air cleaners were better because they drew in cool air from the shade of the hood, while the snorkles suck in the really hot air from the road!

So just how big a pain is it to clean and paint the compartment without pulling the engine?

The later C3s have a twin snorkle setup with a cold air intake that comes in over the radiator. Very cool setup...and better than an open element.
