Does anyone have info on a thicker, heat-insulating carb gasket (not a phenolic $99 carb spacer) for the Q-Jet? Someone at the local speed shop mentioned a 1/4" thick gasket that also insulated from heat.
Does the spacer replace the gasket(s) or must you make a "sandwich" of the spacer between two gaskets?

D, Holley makes one that is in the Summit /Jegs catalog that you just use without gaskets, I replaced mine and went with a 1/2" spacer. With spacers you need the gaskets...15" of snow in TR, see what you missed.................
I am running a 1/4" thick gasket under my q-jet. The rebuild kit came with a standard paper gasket and the thick one. You should be able to pick this up at your parts house. The gasket has torque limiters the bolts go through to keep from crushing it.

The stock Q-Jet gasket is a 1/4" thick insulating gasket. If you're currently not running this gasket, simply get a correct 1/4" gasket from any NAPA store. If this gasket does not provide adequate thermal insulation, you can then consider using a heat shield or a phenolic part. But use the stock thermal gasket first.

The last one I bought for my '75 a few years ago(same as '74), I remember GM even calls it an "insulator"
