Default Hello C3 forum...

I just got a C3 this week. I love this car!

I do have a few questions on it though and of course turned straight to you guys and girls.

1. The heater doesn't work. It didn't even blow so we replaced the heater motor and the wheel. Now it blows, but it's just cold air. Any ideas on what to try next?

2. WTH is the fuse box??? I have been everywhere in this thing on my hands and knees and I still can't find it? I just discovered the battery behind the driver set! Thats---- so----- cool!

3. The door handle pad thingy's. They are both VERY hard to push down to open the door. I have WD-40'ed them both and it helped, but I am going to need serious nail care (daily!) if this keeps up. The lady I bought it from said her husband just tightened them both since they were very lose. So, how do I loosen them back up some? It takes both my hands and all my weight (and thats BUNCHES!!) to get them opened.

4. I need a good paint shop close by if anyone happens to know of one. I want to get her repainted and I am not sure who is good. I was thinking of getting ghost flames coming out of the side vents. Anyone have any pics of a C3 like this or with a special paint job?
I live close to Memphis TN, btw. I would be willing to travel with the car a hundred miles or so to get a really good paint job and price.

Any help on any of this would be great. Thanks in advance!!

Welcome and congrats on the new vette. One thing I can tell you is the fuse box is on the drivers side under the dash. It is up kind of high and a pain to get to.

1. do you have two hoses going towards your fire wall from the front of your engine and do they get hot when the engine is warm? do you have AC? In one of the hoses going to the firewall do you have a round pancake looking device with a tube going to it?

2. stick your head under the dash and look up and to the left...and bend your arms like pretzels....

Well, I don know where ya live but I can tell you a few places around DFW where NOT to have one painted.
As for the hard to open doors...mine were the same way. Remove the door panels and OIL, not wd40, the mechenism. It Fixed mine. Leave the doors open a while so the excess oil can drip out and you can wipe off your bottom. Good luck to ya.

My usual method of getting to the '77's fusebox: remove driver's side t-top, lay backwards over the driver's seat, wiggle forward (usually putting legs straight up), break fuses, cuss when small pieces of glass land in face, replace now-smashed fuse, disentangle self from car.

Hmmm, year might help a little hua! Forgive me! This grin just took my brain too I guess.

It's a 78, I have looked under the dash on the drivers side but no box. Are they just loose fuses or is it in a box with a cover like most cars? I say a white thingy with wires in it, that plugged into slots like fuses. But, it had wires plugged into it. Also, there is a gray little **** directly under the steering wheel in the dash. I can pull it down and push it back up, but I haven't a clue what it does. It looks as if it has a spark plug wire going to it?

Thanks everyone for the info and the welcome! I posted pics of it in OT, Chris. You missed my thread? Here are some for the C3 board. I havent been able to wash it or clean it at all yet. It's ben really cold here. I can't wait until it warms up some so I can.

[

the pull down switch under the steering column is used to raise the headlights with out turning them on....the fuse box is way up high, and does not have a cover on it it should be about approx 4" x5" ..you need to really get under the dash to see it....

Oh I can see me doing that! The neighbors already think I'm NUTS!

But, since I have layed on the ground and wiggled up under the dash and didn't find it, I guess thats my only other option. Is it under the steering column sorta in the dash itself or more to the side of the dash by the wall?

that **** under the steering wheel keeps the head lights from going back down,(sorda like a vaccume override switch) so you can change the bulb or wash in there

Maybe your hoses aren't connected to the heater core. Mine weren't and still aren't.

Welcome.

Welcome!!!

I am new to Vettes also got mine in Dec 2004. Don't feel bad I looked for a while until I found the fuse box, it' way up there on the driver side to the left and up of the brake pedal as you look at it.

Good luck with your new car, I sure do enjoy mine.

Thanks.

I wonder how he tightened it up. When I first saw the car a few months ago, it was very easy to open the doors. But, I will use OIL and not WD-40 tomorrow! Its a suthern thing I guess. If WD-40 don't make it move and duct tape don't make it stay, throw it away!
