WTB: What could i get for $3k or less?
Ok i'm not expecting much but here we go. I'm looking for a hobby/project car. I don't have tons of money to drop into it, otherwise i'd spend more to begin with. Do i have a chance at finding anything?
I don't mind putting a bit of money and plenty of work into getting it like i want it, but is anything in that price range even worth fixing?
I passed on a '76 vette for $1900 cause i was told it would take a few grand just to get it running. So running (or close) would be nice. I don't care if it has 200k miles on it.
And I can't really weld, so rot is kinda a killer for me too unless it's something really simple like floor pans that almost just drop in.
I'm located in southern Indiana and don't have the means to trailer very far. And again the cheaper the better . Thoughts?

I found a '74 in your state... It is a little bit above your price range, but you might be able to bring him down a little.

PS I don't know the condition of this car and I'm not trying to sell the car for the seller. I figured it might be a car you might be interested in. If you need advice about it and you decide to buy it, let us know I am sure we can help. I just don't want to be held responsible for a car I have not personally seen or been around.

1976 Corvette 3000.00
I have a 1976 Corvette with matching number motor and automatic transmission. I has been sitting for awhile. I has a pretty decent body (bad paint and bad bumper covers) inside is in need of an interior kit. Located in Des Moines, Iowa. Needs floor pans.
Has black sidepipes
Thanks Jerry

Was bored...found this 82 in Indy.
I was bored and saw your ad. I found this car, in Indy. Doesn't say what city exactly but it's in the 317 area code. Guy says it runs great, need door panels and such. Priced at a little over 2800. Just thought I'd at least try to help since I really didn't have anything better to do. Hope it helps a little, if not, sorry and good luck finding what you want

This is what this hobby is about. I would of been happy to get my hands on a 3000 dollar vette when I first fell in love with these cars. There is always something out there if we all pull together and help each other out.

Safety Car
Scams and junk mostly. Don't spend $300 without someone who knows these cars looking at it first. Otherwise buying one for 30k finished might have been a bargain in the long run. /:\

This is what I love about vettes. I bought my 74 on ebay for $4k and I don't regret it one bit. Of course it's a money pit, but hey, that's any car for you. You never find this kind of camaraderie among any other than maybe jeep groups...

My boss was selling his 79 with 62k onit... the paint looked rally bad and it wouldn't start... that was before I knew about vette's.... I should have bought it and smiles all the time...
I let some other guy DRIVE IT HOME...

I think that at $3000.00 you're not really buying a Corvette; you're buying what's left of a Corvette.
Keep looking and talking to people, you may come upon a nice find.
Be VERY carefull, old Corvettes are 'money pits'.
Regards,
Alan

I'm not JUST looking at corvettes, i'd be willing to look at RWD V8 cars besides them too. This is a vette forum though, and a corvette sure fills the V8 RWD requirement quite well, while looking good too!

I'm not looking to do a full restore. Just something i can use as a hobby. This isn't an "investment" in a "i'm looking to flip" sense. It's more of a "I'm looking for something to break into this field of hobby".
