Car looks awesome, and the mods that you've put in, like some body else said, are for you. However, If your not in a hurry, I would put an ad in the Autotrader, and just enjoy the car. Personally, I've modded two other cars, and when I'm done buying everything I could think of to enhance the cars looks or performance, I sell it. Then I regret selling it, because most cars come stock, and I don't trust cars that have been modified by the owner. So, I buy something stock, and begin the whole process all over again. Sounds like you've completed your project and are bored. Enjoy the car, enjoy the fruits of your labor. LOL.

Modded cars have a market but you have to ask yourself why does somebody build a 355 or 383 is it so they can drive it like a granny to church on Sundays. So, now all the people chime in how a Vette is made for abuse blah blah blah.

You build a 355 or 383 so you can do one thing haul ***. Some people don't abuse the car, others drag it all the time.

I would never buy a modded car unless, my neighbor had it and I knew the history and how it was driven - then it would be a good deal for the buyer.

Bottom line, you don't know what you have when you buy a hopped up motor other then doing a compression check. The guy could have run the snot out of it at the track for a year or two and then sell it to you and then the motor lets go and you are left holding the bag. How many people do you think run the snot out of the engine until it fails. Nah, I'm guessing most people unload them before engine failure.

I am too practical for mods. My mods are limited to rugs, sill plates and the normal cosmetic items. For the most part 300HP is plenty to tool around with. Saving the $ that would go into Mods allows you to buy another Vette. That's how I finally got my ZR-1. I could have put $35,000 into my 92 but it wouldn't be worth jack now and I'd still be out $35,000.

It all depends on what you are into. To me Mods in the past on LT1's were a big deal but now ZR-1s can be had for high teens and low 20's.
Unless you are going to put major $$ into a LT1, the LT5 power should suffice for most people.

That being said Mike's car kicks *** and can whip a ZR-1's big butt.

Hey Mike - you wanna buy some Wilwood 6 piston racing brake pads?

Jim, you make some valid points although I cringed reading them... especially this part. "I could have put $35,000 into my 92 but it wouldn't be worth jack now and I'd still be out $35,000."

So, I am assuming those are PFC 01 pads? Did you sell the brakes themselves yet? I'm interested in them... just bought new pads but they will only get me 4 events or so. PM me what you want for them. Also, how new are they?

Thanks,
Mike

Great looking car!! The longer you enjoy it, the less you care what the mods cost! Ike

I like you have a TON of money in mods for my Vette. The short list is 383 stroker, Paxton Supercharger, coilovers, etc.etc. When I did this car I pretty much did it to the frome....I had the frame stripped and painted body color buffed out then assembled back having EVERYTHING aluminum on the front suspension polished with poly bushings etc. You get the idea..I have a TON of money in mine. Honestly I know its probably not going to fetch more than market value for a car of the same year. But I would say if you are thinking of selling yours try putting it on eBay with a REALLY nice ad. Set a reserve and start the bidding out low. You will reach millions of people rather than doing the local AutoTrader and reaching just the people in your area. EBay is kinda funny sometimes, some cars go cheap and there have been some cars that have a nice ad and great pics (like the ones you already have) and the cars reach prices that I can't believe. Anyway, if it doesn't reach the RESERVE it may kinda give you an idea of what the car may really bring.

Thats a good idea. A Kruse Auction might work as well.
A 1965 Stingray Roadster with a 4spd, small block, sold for $89,100 last Jan. It brought $25,000 more than expected.

Two people over bid the car. You never know what a car will bring.

It looks like everything was done the right way. With proper documentation you should find a buyer willing to appreciate a well done Vette. It might take some time though. I think you could get the 18k you want for it. heck I'd ask 20k and let them bargain down to 18k. We all know getting our Vettes modded like that costs a ton. Enjoy it, and good luck.

That's the exact reason I can't bring myself to modify my vette, and it's also the reason I bought a 100% documented BONE STOCK, Original Owner vehicle. The only modifications it'll be recieving, are ones that take an hour to put on, and take off.

Beautiful well done car ! I would keep it and enjoy it instead of subjecting myself to the sales process... Not every guy that has sold a nice C4 was happy when they jumped into a C5... not that C5's arn't good cars... they are nice, well engineered cars... They just lack some of the nice design features of the C4... and as nice as your car is... it would take another sizeable investment to duplicate the performance in a C5...
fwiw...
Good luck...

I think before you do mods, you have to come to the realization that you will never get that money back. You do it for the pure enjoyment. I don't owe anything on my vette. The money I put into it is hobby money only. If I have $ to spend..great. If not..no big deal. When I walk past it in the garage and get into my DD I don't feel the least bit guilty. If I walked past a 50K Z06 everyday where I had a fat payment, I'd feel guilty. Plus, I don't know about where you live, but around here, C4s are becoming a rarety. I see 50 C5s on my way to work every day!

WELL....I decided that it would be foolish to sell it at this point and take a huge loss, especially since I have it running and looking so good. I was just getting a wild hair up my a$$ to do something different.

I am like TIMSPEED, pretty much original, a few intake and exhaust "bolt ons". When I get the urge to spend some bucks on speed, I throw the money into the C5 fund. You fixed up the car, it looks and runs great, enjoy it!

I agree, you did such a great job on your vette, enjoy the living daylights out of it and don't look back. there's nothing to feel guilty about, make excuses for, etc.......you kept everything stock, except under the hood, where it counts. i applaud you for your effort, a great slection of parts, now its time to light 'er up!

Greg I'm in the same position you are now I wish I had bought a car like yours last year before I bought this one and dumped all the money into it I'm looking around at Zo6's but there's no way I can swing it with 25k in my 92 that's worth 10k
