Default How close do you park?...........

When I go to any store I always park (daily driver) as far from "door dingers" as possible.

Choose:
#1 As far as possible....................the walk will do me good. Besides I have LoJack.
#2 Fairly close.............................I feel a little brave today. I don't see a bunch of beat up cars.
#3 Almost in the midst of things......will you hurry up and move that piece of crap pal.
#4 As close as I can get................hell I've got 21st Century Ins. , besides I'm looking good.

I'm a combination of #4 and #5..... #5 being,

Create your own parking spot........I don't trust anybody's door handling abilities and I'll just find myself a nice little spot along a curb line or at the edge of the lot - this sometimes turns into a #1 (far away) but often can turn into a #4, when you can find just the right spot that's not really a stall, but in fact it is quite close to the door and very safe. Those are the best parking spots....

Ultimately though parking anywhere is a risk - the morons a**holes, punks are everywhere and they are reproducing at an alarming rate. The only safe spot is the garage, but how much fun would that be?

i usually park along the edge of a curb, where i can only have 1 car, possibly 2 park beside me at most. And in most cases that means a short walk for me, so i guess i pick #1. i don't park real far out though, cause believe it or not, i find that if i park way out where there's no cars anywhere around, that when i come out of the store, there are like 5 cars parked around me

I'm usually a #4, unless I'm somewhere like at the grocery store or mall when it's busy. If I see that the first available spot is 7/8ths of the way to the back of the lot, I'll go ahead and leave it a little further out on the end for piece of mind. If the lot's real empty i.e., only the first 2-3 spots taken in each row, depending on how long I plan to be in the store, I'll put it in space 6-7. However, more often than not I find myself just stickin' it wherever I can. My paintjob isn't show quality as it is, so I don't sweat the small stuff. When the repaint's done, though, I imagine it will be a different story!

Here in Hawaii you're lucky if you can get a #3 because the parking lots are so small. But when ever I can, I go for a #1.

#4 here. I always park as close as I can. It's stupid to park you're car out back in the open where it screams "look at me and feel free to key me because no one will see you do it back here". Sometimes I will park in two spots if I feel it's needed (gotta love the looks I get when people see me do that)...but always the closest possible.

In the Vette, I do a #1 in my DD somewhere between a #2 and #1, I just don't want any of my vehicles to get door dinged. And it seems like when ever I come out there is always a car parked out by the Vette no matter how far away I park.

I try to park in any aisle where I have some protection for the front of the car (a wall or a grassy divider). I'm more concerned with some idiot in an SUV putting his trailer hitch through my hood than with a door ding.

In the freshly painted Vette, #1, always. I also pick a spot on top of the hill, rather than near the bottom so that no shoping cart is going to roll down to my car.
And like some of the others mentioned, I try and pick a corner, so that two side of the car are protected.

I never park it on the street. Its almost guaranteed someone will back over your hood. i pretty much plan where i'm going to go so i dont encounter this

happened to me last nite at the casino.. the 2nd nite I have the car, I parked on the top of the garage, farthest corner with NO CARS, come out hours later and there is a *** mobile parked next to me, and the lot is still empty. I WAS FURIOUS!

I feel like if you take up 2 spots, your asking for a key, spit, etc.
Even parking far away I feel people are still like ohhh he thinks hes better than everyone else!

At the mall I always park at the far end of the lot next to the curb; at the grocers I like to park next to a cart storage island to also be protected on one side.

If neither is available I chose a spot with plenty of room between two already parked vehicles to minimize the chance that someone will park too close to me.

I'm a #1 100% of the time. Walking is good for you and good for your vette.
