My wife has been wanting to know when I plan on putting the new seat tracks in, so she can drive mine. I told her soon as I have time. I don't think she will like it if she drives it, but I could be wrong.
If I ever decide to remarry my potential wife will have to accept if not love my vette.
If not, the car stays and she goes. Cold but true. Women have used and abused me more than I like to remember, my vette never has. I may sound harsh but the priorities have all changed with age and experience.
To many of y'all out there owning a vette is one of life great experiences and passions. It is mine too, and I'm not willing to give up the fun things in life anymore for anyone, the clock of life is running out.
My wife doesn't beg to drive it ('91), BUT WHEN SHE DOES SHE LOOKS REAL GOOD IN IT. One time she picked up her friend and they ended up taking off the top (car) and acted like Thelma and Louise. When I was 15 and rode in my first Vette, the "woman" that gave me the ride (she was 18 and the car was a '67, yellow, factory side pipes, and no less than a 427) I came to the conclusion there is no such thing as an ugly woman in a Vette. I like the fact that she likes what I like!!! It makes it easier to enjoy!!!
She drives it about once per week. We have to trade when I'm running errands for my elderly parents. She likes the vette but prefers her sport ute. Like another poster said, she doesn't want to be the one to damage it. I always tell her I don't care, stuff happens, we have insurance.

Once I got thru to her that I bought the car to enjoy, she has been driving it a lot. Makes her feel good. Plus she looks good in it. Now we have to "discuss" who gets to drive it to work.
Glad to see her enjoying it. She doesn't like to lose either, so maybe she'll let me start doing some mods..

Damn, what a cynical bastard. You sound just like me! I haven't had a wife for a long time and don't even currently have a steady girl. There are a good number of people whom I will let drive my car IF I am in it. But the number of people that I would trust in it alone could be counted on one hand AND still have fingers left. Maybe that gal is out there but she would have to prove herself first in many ways.
My Girl is Asian, Pettite and used to driving high reving low torque cars. She drove the vette exactly one time and didnt bother to set the seat forward, just leaned up in the seat to press the gas, misjudged how hard to press and threw herself back into the seat so far she couldnt reach the pedals. Now she will NOT drive it and unlike most import fans really understands what a vette will do.
I... DON'T... THINK... SO! NYET, uh, nope not gonna happen. She can barely drive her beater! She comes home without a hub cap and bent rim and says " I don't know what happened to it" SO...FORGET IT!
My wife loves Vettes and wants to get another one so she can drive it -- but she won't go near the Callaway. Says she doesn't want to take a chance of being the one that damages it -- smart woman, that's why I keep her around

She can drive it whenever she likes in fact I make her drive it when she has had a tuff day at work, always puts a smile on her face and in a much better mood. She is always afraid she will damage it, but like I tell her if it happens then that just puts me a ZR1 that much sooner.
The only two people I would let drive mine, especially without me in it are two members I've met here. All my long time "friends"?(Oh, that's right i dont' have any ) No way. It would be wrecked in 5 minutes flat.
I got my other half to drive mine once!
Set the seat and she pushed on the gas pedle and that was that.
At 5'2 100 lbs she uses the excuse the peddles are to far away.
Now I only drive it.
n e v e r in a million years. my girl likes to go for drives, and has never asked because she knows the answer. plus the six speed is intimidating to most females.
the owners are the only ones to respect their corvettes unfortunately.
most people here will say "it's just a car" but if that is true, why are there no forums for toyota tercels or chevy celebrities? and why are we all so concerned about getting others opinions on things as banal as tire pressure? we love our cars and no one can treat them the way we do.
