Default Wheels 101

OK guys. Give me the simplest way to match wheels and tires for my '85.
I am looking at AFS wheels which are 17x9.5 38mm o/s & 6.7in b/s for the front & 17x11 36.5 o/s & 7.397 in b/s for the rear. I want to put YOKOs @ size above. Anyone care to translate this formula to this dumbell? I just want new tires and wheels. If I order the rims, how do I know what size tires to order ? Better yet, what size tires should I order ?

275s in front, 315s in rear is what you want......though technically you can go with as big as 285 in front and 335 in rear. (thats the first # in the tire size, which is the width in mm, 275/40-ZR17 and 315/35/ZR17)

To have them fit perfectly and need no spacer, you want wheels with the offsets listed there, 38mm in front, 36.5 in rear for the 11" rim.

Thanks Darth for input from the dark side. So you're saying I don't need to stay with original tire size (255/50VR16's) and can go higher as you specified? You guys make it sound so simple. Thanks.

Thanks for the support. Also thanks for showing me what my car would look like with chromes since we have identical looking cars. Did you ever or would you ever consider the black chrome wheels with the stainless edging ? That's what I'm leaning towards right now.

Forgot to ask but what wheel and tire size to you have on your Vette ?
Hope mine turns out as nice as yours. And while I got your attention, did you ever have a problem with your plastic rear 1/4 panels turning a yellow haze ? What the heckdo you do ? Replace them ?

Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the words, Mine are 17 x9.5 w56mm. offset per 1990 , tires are bfg,s kdw 275/40/17 front 285/40/17rears
I'm not sure when you say "plastic" if you are refering to the 1/4 panels themselves, if so I have gone over it (entire car) w/a wheel 3 stepped and then prepped it and several coats of zaino.
Mine did have some yellowing to the white, but white is a funny color in that the sun etc. can do some strange curing things (bumpers never seem to match perfect), where all the weatherstrips contact the painted areas had yellowing I was able to remove most but some places are to deeply stained. A pro body guy can tell you what you have, if was never repainted, patched painted, or anything, wetsanding it out and wheeling can make it look really fine.
AS to the black rims (zr1 style ) there are a couple guys on the forum who have them and I think they look great, TA,s (is the first that comes to mind (their are others can't think at the second am at work) When I was looking, the guys on this forum all posted pics. for me and there were many!!
