I just had my windsheild replaced today and it looks great! The 18 year old original was so stone bruised that I could hardly see through it driving into the sun. I only have Liability Insurance so I've been putting it off because I thought it would be so expensive. A new rock chip right in my field of vision was the final blow. I researched the site to see what others had paid, problems, ect, so I was expecting the worst. Turns out, this company with a two page ad and 100 locations (Glass Pro) nationwide, came to my work and put it in for $150 plus tax, $161 total. It took two guys almost two hours. Very nice and clean job. No distortions, and I looked very carefully into the sun before they installed it and after. They couldn't be making a lot of money on this deal. The manager assured me that if it leaks they will replace it. I can't see any downside.
I had read others have paid much more, so I thought I'd pass this along.
Great post. I have been thinking of putting in a new windshield on my 96 but have hesitated because all I could think of is how they could really screwup the job. My Vette has only 43K miles and is in the best condition I've ever seen for a 96. And, I don't want to do something stupid that I would always regret. Maybe I'll talk to the local Vette club president to ask his advice on who to put one in for me. Thanks for the post and info. Jim.
Sounds like a good deal. I just read a thread somewhere that mentioned that you need to make sure the installers seal any scratches they make in the frame because that can lead to future rusting in the post area.

That is a fantastic price.
I had mine replaced two years ago and it was twice that price (but I was happy to pay it as the tech was a real craftsman).
Nothing makes a used car feel like a new car more than a new windshield.

[QUOTE=MrRenoman]That's a fantastic price. Did they reuse your outer windshield frame weatherstrip?

Yes... if I had known they were going to take it off, I would have purchased a new one, since I was planning to replace it anyway since it looks really crappy, especially now with the new windsheild. I ordered a new one from "Corvette Rubber" last night $160 I think. It came off really easily, I was surprised, not much sealant, maybe it was done before. No rust on the frame, actually looked pretty new under the seal.
This is a California car, and probably hasn't seen much bad weather, or salt. I guess I was lucky to get such a well cared for Corvette, since I knew nothing when I bought it. It looked good, but you find out later if there are hidden problems. Someone said to "Smell" the car before you buy it....seems like good advise, this one smelled good, no mildew smell.
