I recently acquired a 95 vette, lt1 and auto, plus lots of other nice factory options, but no mods. Thinking about gutting the mufflers to give it a muscle car sound, but don't want it to shake the windows. Anyone out there give me an idea just how loud it would be?
ps--also new to this forum and think it is greatest thing I have found this year (I got the vette last year).

Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum! I too wanted more sound out of my 92 so I cut off the mufflers and installed muffler eliminators. I think it sounds just about right!
I run 2 chambered flows, !cats, with the resonator removed.....Its loud!!
Wouldn't it be nice if one could do a general comparison of the sounds of different setups via the 'net? I'd like to crank mine up a bit but don't want to get too aggressive with the noise.

I have seen several forums that have sound libraries for this. I wouldn't mind posting a video of my current system if your interested.

Simply cutt it off. You will need to install two 2 1/4" pipes in its place or 2 1/2" pipes if your running an aftermarket system such as myself. I took advantage of the this and had a balance tube (h-pipe), installed in its place.
Gut them. I drove a 94 Formula with flowmasters and when i get my 96 it sounded like a normal car. i gutted the muffers and it now sounds about the same as my old formula with flowmaster but for cheaper.
I have a video of my new exhaust if you are interested i can email it to you.
Anyone know if there would be a big difference between chambered eliminators and regular eliminators?
I personally don't know for sure, but you would think that the non chambered muffler eliminators would have to be louder.
I may end up changing over to these later on if I want the grape any louder. Its loud now but it can never be too loud! Plus I really like the tips that some of these manufacturers offer with their eliminators.
Don't you think these big tips would look nice coming out the back??
I like the B option. 3.75" oval slants.....makes me shiver when I think how they would look on the back of the grape!
I HAVE A 95 PACE CAR
I PUT A CORSA EXHAUST ON IT, IT SOUNDS AWESOME
NOT NEAR AS LOUD AS A BORLA(TO LOUD)
IT COSTS ABOUT A GRAND-3" TIPS ARE EVEN BLING
YESTERDAY WEATHER WAS SO GOOS IN PHILLY, I TOOK IT OUT FOR A SPIN, PICKED UP MY FORD BUDDY
IT WAS HARD FOR HIM TO ADMIT BUT HE EVEN SAID SOUNDED GREAT
GET A CORSA
LATER
I went with the eliminators ...A...but even with them I didn't get the muscle car rumble . So I put TPIS headers RT high flow cats and an x-pipe no resonator and now it sounds like a beast , but of course this wasn't a cheap enhancment but I got more than sound out of the Vette !!!
I'm running Ceramic coated LPE 1 5/8, three inch pipes with dual cross-overs (front and back), Summit Stainless band straps, Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers, Summit 3 1/2" rolled edge stainless steel tips. I blow squirrels off trees when I drive by – very loud
An entire tuned system is a matter of personal taste. The tips made a difference on mine, not only in looks, but sound. They smoothed out the tone. So you should listen to what other guys are running.
If you want a muscle car sound, I would go with a nice set of Flowmasters 50’s or Corsas.
Here is my sound bite with the 40’s. It is at high idle at first, then towards the end with goes to normal idle (it is difficult to hear the blower whine, but the A1000 fuel pump comes through loud and clear). It gets even nastier when in gear: http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/co...VR_MOVIE-1.wmv

llol....thts how my mustang was, it was just a crappy 302, with headers and tru-duals with 40 series flows, it shook other cars and set off car alarms.....haha
my vette had sum weirdm ufflers on them, they were glasspacks, haha but they were like dual glass packs, kinda like taraga mufflers, i blew out the cat and had those till i decided to tear the car apart, and it sounded good.
