Default Electric Shock

I just noticed that when I push the power lock switch on my car, it shocks me. The last time I actually saw a very small spark. Has anyone else had this problem?

I guess I've been lucky. In my 43 years and all the car work I've done I have never been shocked by 12v DC. I didn't think it could even shock you unless amplified like through the ignition or inverted to AC. hmmm, I guess if you got shocked then you can, I learn something every day.

I would say that the switch definetly has a short and I would just replace it. They cant be too costly or you may can find a replacement on ebay or a bone yard. Besides getting shocked , it could lead to a fire or other electrical issues if left un repaired.

I was thinking that...but figured, surely he'd know the difference. We all played with balloons and drug our tennis shoes on the carpet to zap a friend when we were kids , right??

I get shocked every once in a while after I get out of my car and touch the door handle to close the door.

By the way, have you seen the news articles about gas station fires (and some deaths) from static electricity while fill the tank.
Safety precautions--1. Ground yourself briefly to the car before fueling to discharge any static electricity. 2. NEVER re-enter the car while fueling (causes static build up). 3. Other advise I don't remember. In other words, be carefull.

Default Shocking!

You were probably abducted by aliens and this is just the residual electric charge left by their probes. Anything feel funny down there? I would suggest you wear an aluminum foil hat for 72 hours to throw off the tracer beams from the mother ship, then you will be OK.
