Well, when you need a part now and the dealer is the ONLY source and they are the ONLY dealer in town, you're stuck...and I've only been there twice :o
At least the car was smart and got as far from them as possible.
$35 large. That was serious folding money back in 1989.

Check out the price of the tops: $750 extra for the clear seems
reasonable, but notice they want $1,400 for both. Some things
remain the same, some things change.
34k was a lot of money back then, still is now (at least to me).
As far as inflation goes, for the money the C6 Z06 is a great bargain. I may have to wait to find a low mile 10+ year old one though.
Good find there cuisin...amazing how it all spent so much time there behind the seat....
Out of interst, the first C4 I ever worked on in 1996, was an 89 vert. After removing the seats I found a shell and two live rounds...9mm...a regular normal looking one and a thing that has a hole in the tip....Still got 'em to this day....
I worked on a Japan export 85 coupe once, that had a small green plastic container. Inside were new fuses, and an assortment of lamps. It had a GM logo on the front of it. The other quirk about this car was that the instruments only read in metric. Also had about 2" wider rear number plate recess, red reflectors on the rear bar, and square outside mirrors...
I got an 89 coupe with same reflectors and mirrors..it is also a *** export model..I recently saw a late 80's TA with the same mirrors, so they don't impress me as much anymore on my 89....
Yeah I know...none of it is a big deal but it can be interesting trivia..
basically, instead of the oil filter threading onto the block directly, it threads onto a cooler adapter about 1.5" thick which has hoses running in & out of - that is part of the oil cooler set-up
If you thread the oil filter right to the block, you do not have the "cooler" . If you have as I just loosely described, then you have one - Hoses run to the rad.
I just received my laminated build sheet & window sticker from the Corvette Museum for my 87. I think its so cool to see original window sticker with the name of the selling dealership...all the options and list price back from 1987. I think it will be a great addiition to display on my Vette windshield at shows!!! But aside from that...its like the perfect beginning of a family tree search, if you will, combined with a carfax to see sort of a history of where my Vette started out. I found out my Vette was sold new out of a Dealership in West Babylon, LI, NY.
which is still in business today!!!
