Default Goodbye Corvette

Sorry guys, I made a business decision a few days back due to ongoing issues with my 86 Vette. A very nice car with only 122K and I was the second owner, however, it was nickel and diming me to death so I cut my losses.

I traded my Corvette at a friends wholesale dealer for a 1995 Saab 900SE Turbo. I have had Saab's before and they have treated me right. This one is in cherry condition and packs a bit of a punch with the 185bhp motor. I would have sold my car on the board but dont have the time for that stuff so I just traded it and walked away with another in just 1 hour. They gave me $6,200 for it so not too bad.

I will chime in time and again and help who I can with what I have learned here. Dont plan on another Vette unless it is for a weekend car or something, mine just did not like to be driven daily I quess.

Thanks to everyone for your support when I was having all my car issues and questions.

You can always buy another Vette and probably will. I had two previous Corvettes and both times I sold my Vette I ended up buying another one. The 93 I have is C4 #3 the biggest difference is this one is just a weekend car, nice days etc. Goodluck to ya !!

Do yourself a favor:
Do not ever use the phrase,"I had a Corvette once."

Man I feel just like you some times. I love my 86 vette, but it seems that it doesn't love me back. every time I set to drive it there seems to be something wrong with it. I had the car since 95 when I turned 21 and I have only put 12000 miles on it because there is always something wrong with it. I have been contemplating gettign rid of it, but it just hard to let it go.

good luck, whatever works for you.
If you dont want a car get rid of it!
We are living in great times there are allot of great new and used cars out there besides vettes, foo me i havent had all these problems on my 1986 but "any" car 20 years old is going to have some problems....
But one more thing dont come crying when you get another car and it starts acting up on you those turbo saabs can be spendy to repair
so be for warned.
good luck

Funny... A friend of mine had a black Saab convertible that was nickle and diming him... He bought a '90 Vette! There are good ones and bad ones for every make and model. Good luck with the Saab!

Wow, I can't imagine trading my vette for another vehicle. But I guess you got to do what you got to do. Sorry to hear that you had to trade off the vette.

Good luck, JC. I think your car just got "to a point", as you say. That doesn't exclude your getting a newer model C4. The later years got better as you know. But have fun with the Saab. I'm hardpressed to think that it's reliable, but I take you at your word that they've been good to you. Come back and visit as much as you can tho.

You'll be back. The first time you stomp the throttle in the Saab, you'll realize what you've given up. On the other hand, as long as you're happy, that's really all that matters. Don't be a stranger, stop in from time to time.

Ya, think? A auto trans and a turbo in a Saab is bad news.
The stick shift, non turbo, Saab is a much better car.

I dont blame you, these are fun cars, but once they start falling apart the needed work outweighs the fun. Enjoy the Saab and hopefully youll pick up a newer vette thats a little more sound.

EVERY used car is going to eventually have some kind of problem. Whether it is big or small, there will be something that needs fixing on that Saab in the future. I would have sold the vette here on the forum or in the newspaper, then bought a 95 or 96 vette. My 95 (even though I have done some maintenance things) has been very reliable.
