I have the Factory Bose in my 87 Vette. I have the Factory JBL system in my 1991 Town Car, and the Town Car's system is leagues ahead of the BOSE. I like driving the Vette, but the Stereo isn't as nice as the Lincoln's is. The Lincoln is clearer, louder and has more bass, and by the way, it has a reputation as a fairly reliable system.
The one in my Vette has no problems, and I don't plan on replacing it, but it does leave soemthing to be desired when compared to a similar era JBL deck.

It will fail eventually. And when it does, go see Dr. Don's...

Can't believe I'm wasting time defending the Bose, but it was initially released in 1982 for the 1983 Seville/Riviera/Toronado - a bit of a time delta between that and 1991.

I think some of those who don't like them just want a system that vibrates my house when they go by. You've been warned, late at night you may risk getting belted with some bird shot if you drive by my house like that! Okay, I wouldn't really shoot at a Vette, just ricers.... Man, I love my Bose. I've had some nice custom systems in cars but nothing any better, that's for sure. Example: I'm a Steely Dan fanatic. I've been listening to some of their stuff for over 30 years on vinyl, tapes, CDs and on home systems that could rock your world. Suffice to say I know every song on every album by heart. When I first got my Vette and started listening to their stuff in it, I still heard things in the music that I hadn't noticed before. If anyone wants to rag on their Bose, throw it out the window or whatever, feel free. I'm keeping mine and if it breaks, I'll get it fixed.
Bose invest more money in marketing than they do in research, development and production - Bose = high end price, mediocre performance and made with cheap parts.
This is absolutely on the nose correct. I've been posting this very fact whenever these Bose threads come up, for 3 years now.
FOR THE PRICE, Bose is sadly outclassed by any home audio gear of car audio gear, FROM DAY ONE, ever since that company come into being. True the original 901's when they came out were good upper-mid fidelity, but they have the guts to keep charging high prices for OLD TECH.
Basically stated, the soundstaging that Bose puts out is marginally balanced. Its NOT great, its adequate. And for the price NEW its a downright ripoff.
By the way, quality soundstaging at LOWER VOLUME LEVELS is where good components in an audio system shine. Its not about volume. For those that think it is, they know nothing about audio. LOUD ear splitting and LOUD pleasant on the ears are two completely different worlds. And it does take a certain amount of $$ to create that difference.

If it sounds good to your ear then great. But its not good sound reproduction, the technology in the c4 is at least 16 years old at this point. After talking to our bose reps back in the day when I worked at circuit city I would not sell it to anyone unless they specifically asked for it.

That right their should be the end of story for most.
Our bose reps would never give us specs. Their saying was bose doesnt sell specs we sell technology. It was the biggest bunch of crap I ever heard. I told them I wouldn't sell any of their product if they didn't give me something and the rep admitted he didn't even get the specs.
Bose has a nice beat but they have no reception. My CD gets stock and only comes out if I punch the sucker. My 4 banger with a piece of turd radio get more stations for a longer range than "Bose Gold Series" imagine just a plain Bose. The bad thing is that there are not many choices out there to replace the bose with a nice fit radio/direct fit.
Not trying to hijack here but dont you mean SURFING with the alien?
Album has an alien that looks like something out of The Abyss on a surf board catching some mystic waves.
P.S. Aminnich mentioned Buddy Holly - B.H. IS A GOD!
You are absolutely correct sir. You have to excuse me. I grew up in the late sixties and early seventies and today I suffer from C.R.S. Can't remember s&!t.
