I got a problem and I am trying to find out what exactly I need to replace. When I turn on my wipers even if its just shooting some bug juice on, the wipers dont want to turn off...they just keep going and going until I flick the switch off and on at least 3 times. I had them off after I sprayed the windshield one day and they stayed on for 5 mins until I played with the switch to try to get them to turn off. Any body know whats going on?
Since nobody has commented yet, I will throw my$.02 in.
I had a Camaro that used to do that. The problem was that a position sensor in the motor/cover assembly was failing. It won't stop until it senses that the wipers are at the end of travel, and if that little switch doesn't throw, it assumes that it hasn't reached the end and keeps going.
The fix for the Camaro was to replace the motor cover assembly - very expensive, and it keps on failing year after year. A real pain...

You really need to go through the manual's diagnostics to be sure, but I'll tell you this. 95% plus of the time, such problems are indeed caused by the wiper motor assembly. On some cars they are servicable, some are not. I'm not sure about the C4 as I've not had any problems with mine yet. But if and when I do, I've got a spare wiper motor.
Well I was going to try for the small job and work up. I was going to go for the switch and see if that fixed it. I will definately look it up in the book to make sure what is wrong...might do that this weekend if I fix the darn clutch but thats another story.
If you look at the wiper motor you will see a black plastic cover. This is the module that controls the intermitent wipe, on and off and also controls the windshield washer pump. 3 or 4 screws and it comes off. Most of the corvette parts suppliers (Ecklers, TLD, ect.) sell these modules for around $90 or so if I remembe correctly. I'd bet money that this is the problem but do the diagnostic checks before buying parts, saves money.

Right, going to check the book and make sure. Thanks!

The previous 86 I used to own would go for months without the wipers ever being used. I would have to turn the switch off and on several times before the switch would work.
Do the diagnostics first but I'll bet it is the switch. For a used one at a decent price go to www.vette2vette.com

No offense but I dont think I would go with a used part when I have one that failed. It just seems to me you have no idea what the used part has been through and it could fail right after the install. So I would just rather replace the bad part with a new one. I know alot of us want to save money where we can esp. with gas the way it is but why not spend the few extra bucks and get it new.
