I registered my '88 in AZ last year where no front plate is required. I'm now driving it in NY and NJ where plates are required but retain the AZ registration till next July. Guess I'll also be ILLEGAL then. :D

Nebraska law states that you must have front plate, but I have located mine below the front bumper. Haven't had any problems with the liscense plate location yet.....

Question for everyone? (on out of state "visits")
If YOUR state does not require a front license plate (and you are traveling in a state that does) can you be ticketed by the state you are "visiting"?
For example; NJ requires a front tag. Its neighbor state Pennsylvania does not. Its other neighbor, New York, does. What is a Jersey cop allowed to do by law when he sees either of this drivers in his state (the PA and NY drivers) without a front tag? Does he have the legal right to ticket both of them?

Not sure on that, but I've heard tell of the infamous tickets in Wash D.C. ticketing cars with valid 1-plate state registrations for not having a front place. What are they going to do - Zerox one?

I called the Oklahoma DPS about this a while ago. They said that an officer won't give me a ticket for not having a front plate (Texas) while I'm in Oklahoma. They said that the officers here cannot inforce the law of another state. So I think that would sum it up for the entire nation, but I'm sure that there is some state out there like Utah if that all screwed up or something.

Idaho require a front plate. Funny thing though, if I tavel outside of the city limits of Boise, I'll get a $32.50 ticket for sure. If I stay in town, no chance of getting one. Its just one of those laws that are inconsistantly, or selectively inforced on us.
Bottom Line: I run without plates, I don't go out of town all that much, and when I do, I simply factor-in the cost of a ticket into my travel expenses.

The law states that I should have one but I don't. Also know of a dozen others around here that don't and have not been bothered yet. Let the cops spend their time chasing drug dealers and do some real work.

Never had one, never will. The San Diego PD cracked down on it for awhile stating that with the advent of red light cameras, it had to be there. Our courts have now thrown out all the camera tickets, so who knows what, if anything they might say next. Being under 25 or driving a Ricer gets most of the attention, so I just don't worry about it.

Front plates required here as well (Ontaro,Canada).
I try and make the best of it. I mounted a clear
cover with a small painted border (body color).
A saw some done this way in the C5 forums
and thought it looked OK.

did not have one for a long time here in south tx ....but while on the way up to San Antonio got pulled over....i only had one plate when i bought the car....the officer gave me a warning...the next day exchanged the plate with a $5.00 charge and mounted the plate up front....i was just waiting till the time came, i guess.
