I have a 84,the securtiy system doesnt work?I bought a theft deterrent module off ebay thought maybe mine was bad.One question where is my original module located at ? thanks
Its on the right side of the car behind the crash pad? that says Corvette. You need to take the carpeted section out,lay on your back and look up,not easy to get to.
Even when they are working they are easy to defeat. Just drive a screwdriver through the gills on the left side deep into the battery with a hammer and it's all over for the factory alarm system
Is your horn working properly? My neighbor's '86 had neither working, and replacing the horn relay behind the DIC fixed both. Good Luck.
I came on to learn why my security system will not disarm (Preventing me from starting the engine). All I read about is "Vats" and Keys with "Pellet" resistors. I however have an 84 and there is no pellet on the key and the key looks as if there never was a pellet. I just bought the car and the guy said it was the right key.. The door key won't disable the alarm, the horn does not work either?? (Just mentioned in this thread). Oh, excuse me! Is it improper for me to just jump into someone else's thread like this, or should I begin a new one of my own??? I have never used a forum before.

You should probably start your own thread, especially since you replied to a 9 years old thread!
You'll learn though, everyone was "new" when they started.
Start a new thread, giving as much info as you can about the issue.
And always list the year of your car also. (you did this in this thread, so your good there).
