Sorry, to do this to you guys. I know the RPO code is U68. The GM guys can't find the match for this color in thier books.
they need a color code that starts with a (WA). On my '88 the paint code is under the console lid on the bottom of the RPO sticker. Mine says WA8555 blk/clr.
Just as a side note ... there were NO variants in the '93 Ruby Red paint. This should make it much easier. Also, DuPont makes an excellent match to the Ruby Red. I had a louver panel replaced using the DuPont System - outstanding match! :yesnod:
Right. I'd be willing to bet that the confusion experienced in the link I posted above was probably related to the fact that for the '89 and '90 model years code 68 was called Dark Red Metallic. Then the code disappeared until 1993 where it was called Ruby Red.
This is a great example of why you need the W codes to be sure you get the right paint match. The RPO codes are more like marketing codes than paint codes.
"Triple" refers to three aspects of a convertible. They are : 1. The top color 2. The interior color 3. The body color
Since the 40th Anniversary cars are Ruby Red in all three areas, they are considered Triple Ruby Red. If someone had a convertible that had a white top, a white interior and a white exterior, it would be considered triple white. The same would go for a black convertible with all three areas being black - triple black, etc.
Thanks for all the help guys. My car is actually black but, I wanted to do some contrasting scheming with the "Dark Ruby Metallic" (thats what the Tech at GM told me the color is called when gave him the "WA" number)
I just love that color. I almost bought a Ruby Coupe before I found "Midnite".
