I messed up my valve covers cleaning them with Grease Lightning this week. GL changed the color from silver to the burnt orange. Any tricks\hints to pulling off the valve covers to have them polished or repainted? :mad :mad
Drivers side is easy, you need to remove the nuts holding the injector wire harness and loosen the bolt on the air pump, move plug wires, etc.
Passenger side, are you sitting down, remove EGR tube, spark plug wires, injector plugs and two nuts holding injector harness. Then remove serpentine belt, belt tensioner, frisbee from water pump, loosen A/C bracket (several bolts, nuts and brackets, and then cover. It is really easier, I think, to pull the fuel injection connectors and get the A/C bracket out of there by removing compressor bolts and moving it out of the way. Makes installation of the valve cover without messing up the gasket much easier. But then again, I am a gluten for punishment
Try the above site. It helped me do mine last month. Not that bad a job. Be very careful spinning the EGR tube. If it comes apart its a b1t#h to clamp together. Good luck! :chevy
