Anyways, good luck to ya!

I have family working at Delphi in Lordstown and I understand what you are going through.

If you pick a good weekend for a Cruise in/House warming, I bet you could get a few from here to stop in!

Congrats on your retirement.. You will be surprized at all time
you will have to do the things you never had time for . Especially the time you can spend with the wife and kids.

I left GM about 6 months ago after 30 years of mostly 2nd and 3rd shift and I dont miss it one bit. Glad to hear you got out and enjoy every minute of it! Check back in with us once in a while

Congrats on your retirement, condolences on your sale, and good luck with the move !!!

My dad retired from Inland division of GM in Dayton, OH several years ago and we still keep up with what is going on. He's the reason I'm driving my C4 (hmm in more than one way...) with his passion for the Chevrolet/GM brand. It's kind of sad that brand loyalty isn't what it used to be (well, except for us!).

Enjoy Myrtle Beach and hurry back with a Vette soon !!

Congratulations on your move. I'm only about an hour north of Conway here in Wilmington. I'm down in Myrtle about once a week. I'm a commercial contractor and we are building several of the condo projects along the waterfront. One word of caution, watch the housing market very closely. The sales in Brunswick county have almost shut down completely. The condo sales in Myrtle have slowed sharply as well but not to an alarming rate. Learn how to get around on Highway 31, it will make getting around the traffic a lot better. As far as golf there are over 100 courses there, which you probably already know. Just south of you on 501, Wildwing Plantation is on the right. It has one of the best Fazio designed courses that I have ever played (the Falcon course). There are many others and I have played probably 90% of them over the years. Let me know if you would like a "review" before plunking down your cash. Welcome to the area and let's have an "adult" beverage one day!

Tradjedy what's happening to US auto workers and manufaturers.

Good luck in everthing you do, I'm semi-retired and never have enough time to do the things I want. Been a real pleasure and hope to see you back soon.

Going the way of some long time mfgs. What does made in the USA really mean anymore?

If you think about its more than the car companies, its the US Stock market, local real estate, local suppliers like LOF for glass, companies in El Paso TX that supply the materials for the upholstery, the tire mfgs.

In a one horse town when the horse dies the town dies. Wisconsin has never recovered from Briggs and Stration leaving for Mexico and $5.00 a day labor. The local real estate hit the skids.

Ohio has some of the lowest priced real estate in the country.
When GM and Ford are gone its going to be a totally different ballgame.

Suddenly the cost of a car will skyrocket, no domestic competiton.
When not if.

Thanks for the invite. I hear ya on the real estate market but I already bought a 1600sqft manufactured home on 1 acre off of 701 for $71k so I will be in good shape once 31 is extended to 701.I am a little out in the sticks but like it that way and every half mile a new developement is starting around me.I plan on relearning golf have not played much in a long while and every relative is already planning on stopping down to play.

Best of luck and check in every now and then. From what I understand the younger you retire the longer you'll live. Once you get settled you might find something to do to keep busy. With all the retirees and construction in the area maybe (if you wanted to of course) your electrician background and an South Carolina license will fill any void that comes up. Again, congradulations and don't be a stranger!

Good luck in your retirement. You're the same age as I am, hard to believe that you can retire, I still have 3 years and I thought I was retiring pretty early. When I retire I'm not giving up my Vette, I'm going to spend more time driving it, I bought it for my retirement. I understand situations are different for everyone, I hope to see you here in the near future.

Good luck to you!
I own some land in Sunset Beach, NC which is about 5 miles north of Myrtle.
There are storage facilities all around there, so you might want to re-think selling.
Plus, if you do decide to keep her, there's the Myrtle Beach Corvette Club!!
Either way, I wish you good fortune
