Sounds like you met a good cop. When i was young and crazy i would get in trouble with my car all the time. The local cop gave me some good advice after another stupid stunt in my 68 camaro.

I have 3-4 tickets in the Vette

I've only been let go once (spun tires, tires were bald which I showed the cop, he told me to get them fixed and never to do that again in his area)...

 

Never have had a ticket in my vettes, although I certainly deserved them a time or two. Years ago I was egged on by a rumbling El Camino, we hit it off the light and when I hit second I was a car and a half ahead....when the lights came on...CHP, nicest cop I ever met..his first question was "did you see me at the light". He really inspected the vette, under hood..everything, told me some stories about his earlier days, told me I had one nice ride, and to becareful. The other car kept going, the cop said he's gonna get pulled over, already radioed ahead. That was over 30 years ago...haven't been pulled over since.

 

I was pulled over and given 2 tickets the second time I drove my Vette. County mounty was behind me when I passed an old pickup in front of me having car trouble, or just learning how to drive a stick. I passed smoothly and carefully in 4th gear, not exceeding the 40 mph limit, and his lights come on. He asks, do you know what I stopped you for? and I say no. He says, you passed in a no passing zone. I said no, I did not. He says, well then you were speeding! I shut up. Went to court and got the no proof of insurance dismissed, but a--hole cop was there and lied to assist. sts. attny. about me also running the person off the road and almost hitting the median, and I should be cited for reckless driving! Turned into a minor $$ fine and court supervision for 60 days to keep off of insurance and D/L points, so I guess she believed me over cop to certain extent.
Neighbor is a state cop, and when I told him, he said he knew the guy was a bad cop, and this was just one example of his crap.
Radar detector installed quickly, and reveals my Vette gets shot when other cars around me (non Vettes) do not. I can be 6th car in a line of cars, and be shot when the others are not.
Paranoid definition for me now is to be going 50 mph in a 55 mph zone and know you will get a ticket!
