Default Crash Tests

Some of you may remember when i jokingly posted that i was thinking of trading my vette for my dad's turbo charged Smart Car

My dad emailed me a video of a Smart Car crash test and i was totally impressed.

Wow!
I'm not sure what impressed me more. The results of the crash test, or the fact that blender hit 70mph!

Amazing - but I still would not be caught dead or alive driving or riding in one.

My 2¢: I rather be in a vette with 4 feet of hood to absorb some of the impact. Also, no one is going to drive head on into a wall. If that thing got into an accident with a surburban, it would be like a baseball hitting a bat

What I got out of the video is that the Smart is an amazingly strong car. I would probably never drive one at 70 mph. But for commuting back and forth to work on mostly local roads where I live I'd feel very safe in it. We'll have to see if the price vs. fuel economy works out, and I'm just not sure about the looks yet....

Agent86, they are simply little cars. I had the chance to sit in one over in London a few weeks ago.
They do look funny whizzing down the highway
I was told Mercedes makes them, this one was hopped up, pushing about 10lbs of boost.

I agree, they do look funny but it seems to grow on you over time

The fact Mercedes Benz makes them is enough to say they wouldnt have taken the safety lightly.

What powers these cars? Where is this power plant?? Where did it go after that impact???

You gotta admit... it's a kinky little car, but I have to agree with others.
If you hit that thing from the side with just about any of the Soccer Mom SUV's out here in CA, you're dead.

they need to do tests using large SUVs since thats what most people drive these days anyway. They should make SUV's smaller so the people driving could actually see. Needs bigger mirrors too.

I do like the smart car though and I dont even like small cars.

I was wondering the same thing. I wanted to see what it did to a dummy, like how squished it was, etc.
