you'll find the people who bash other Vettes/owners, for the most part are punks and will pull things like that no-matter where they are or what the're doing. They don't know who or what the're bashing, and don't really care. I might be dropping a "thumpn'" motor in my C4 so I'm driving one of my other Vettes, and some jerk in some winged beater is going to "profile" me? Or better yet, the're probably not Corvette owners anyway.
[Hot Rod 90]Because C5s are ugly garbage.[/Hot Rod 90]
Is this the one exception? Hot Rod has always disliked the look of the C5. Its just an opinion and hes got just as much right to it as anyone else has.
Hot Rod disliked the styling of the C5 before you bought one. You know that C5's are excellent cars so what one opinion matter?

Hence the whole second post I made.
I was just saving him the trouble in my first post.

I do notice a pecking order in the prestige of Corvette generations. Unfortunately, our C4's are at the bottom of that list right now replacing the C3 which has of late enjoyed an uptick in status among Corvette owners. It may be many years before our cars are appreciated in the Corvette community but they'll never be in the same league as the C2's and C1's. For some reason there seems to be this friction between C4 owners and C5 owners, but personally I find the C1 and C2 owners to be the most obnoxious in their opinions of our cars. I can't tell you how many times I've heard one of them exclaim that the last "real" Corvette ever made was the '67. That always burned me but until the lowly C4 gains some status there isn't much I can do about it.
Everyone I talk to that has one, any year, whether it be at a gas station or the grocery store, seems to be nice, at least to my face. The guys I hang with (one C2, two C3s, another C4, and one C5) all seem to like the other's cars.
'Course maybe that's why I hang with them. I think I'm with you Tdogg21, I'm generally a happy person, and I don't hang around people that would be that negative.
I've only met one REAL jerk while out and about. In my opinion, he didn't deserve the C5 he was driving... AND, I would never hang around him.
i use to be into the sport compact car scene and i had two guys come up to me at different shows and tell me how much they hated my car and how stupid it looked. i couldn't beleive it. the one guy justified himself by saying he works with those kind of cars all week so he was allowed to say it. that was one of the things i liked about the corvette shows. you never had that. most corvette owners love talking to other corvette owners about their cars and don't seem to care what year it is. then i came on here and i see people in the c3 section ripping c4s and the c4 section ripping c5s. i think it's stupid. i saw comments about 'c5 drivers never wave' or 'i don't bother waving to c5 drivers' and i wonder how you can think that. i figure if a c5 or c6 driver doesn't wave it's because they don't know (or don't care) about the tradition. and that's fine with me because i won't have to deal with them at a show because they won't be the type of person there. i guess i just feel if you're a real corvette enthusiast, then you shouldn't rip other generations. you don't have to like the styling, but you don't have to be rude.
I've seen the same crap on every internet forum, whatever the subject material. People love to take sides to make themselves feel superior. Also blokes will be blokes.
I just like car-people. I love cars, I dont bash imports, Mustangs, C5s, motorcycles, whatever, I just love the road and nice machinery built for it. and I love the way people customise cars to their own taste.
PS I've started beeping to get the wave. I will make you wave dammit!!
we own what we like! my personal favorite is 70 l 46 vert, but this isnt 1970 anymore, and we drive ours. we dont like looks of c5,iif we did we would have some.i dont like back or non pop up hd. lites of c7but as c4s age , wife will probably have one. i will go european. im not pc ,if i dont like something i say it,if some asks my opinion. i dont go out of my way at car shows to trash someones pride and joy ,that i consider a tacky pos. there are arrogant elitest in anything in life.including this forum. look at some of the attitudes toward new members, and the questions they ask.
I am so glad that this topic has come up. I don't think that it is human nature but rather the nature of some humans to bash and slam. We are now in a time of uncivil behavior that many people attempt to excuse by saying "well i'm just not politically correct". We all have differences of opinion and should feel free to voice them. However we don't need to belittle or tear down others to make our point more valid(addition by subtraction).
It is also interesting to me that when the C5 came out C3 and C4 gens got together on their high horses to proclaim it "not a Vette". They said that the front end looked like a Mazda or a Ford Probe and the back end looked like a kit car. Now it seems that C3s have forgotten their enthusiastic support of the C4.
Car people should all respect each other whether import, domestic or whatever catagory. After all we have in common that we spend sick amounts of money on them and love it.
why does there seem to be so much animosity between different generation vette owners?? i grew up with a C3 and C4 and love them both. i also would love to own a C1 and C2. i'll admit it took me about a year to get use to the C5s but now i want one of them too. i guess i just think all corvettes look great in their own way. i just don't understand how people can be so loyal to their own car that they are rude to others. it doesn't stop there either, but people talk about the people who drive them. and say things like 'i never wave to C5s.' i think it's ridiculous. we all have been blessed with the opportunity to honor all vettes. why limit yourself? there are vettes that aren't my favorite (75-82), but i would never say anything bad about them or their owners, and i still wave to them.
please don't post any flaming comments here, i just wanted to say that and see if someone could explaini why it's like that. please don't start a pissing contest between generations.
save the wave!
AMEN BROTHER, if someone dislikes somebody else because of what they drive then they need to take a look at their lives. Church on Sunday Morning will help desolve their inner anger and if they are not willing to do that, then a few Prozac a day will help too.

I don't think there is any real animosity between the different gens. Anyone who says they wouldn't want a vette of this generation or that generation is a big fat liar. But I think it's human nature to ridicule things that others possess that they themselves don't possess. I can go on and on about the big butts of the C5's, but you can bet your butt that i'd be more than happy to have a c5 of my own, or any other gen for that matter.
Let us not forget, every gen has at least a few "tools" that drive them. It's also human nature to stereotype. Some people here may find that they don't get waves from certain gens, so those people tend to clump that whole gen as a "bad apple."
why ? lets just say that i dont think people get too upset when the Camry or Accord gets remodeled every few years. i think for the most part,Vette owners are used to seeing the same style machine for many years and when its changed.............watch out!! im proud our cars inspire that much passion, and i love ALL generations of Vettes
