Not trying to jack ya but I got a little personal satisfaction from a trick I pulled on a bicycle thief. My wife and I HAD bicycles. One night hers was stolen from our house cut off our chain link fence. God I hate thieves. I started thinking how I could fix the bastards. Here is what I did I got a old extension cord and striped off about 3ft. of wire and taped to the under side of the handle bars. Then I leaned the bike against the wooden fence so it wouldn't ground out and then I plugged it in. It sat there for about a week when one night we were watching tv and I here screaming I didn't think about the bike I run out side and there is this black guy on the ground he jumps up and runs face first into the side of my house and almost falls over takes off running and screaming crazy sounds and hoots I almost pissed my pants laughing so hard. I wanted to keep the trap set for others but the wife was giving me to much ****. I sorta forgot about this story it happened a while back when we lived in a bad neighborhood. I just got another good laugh out of it typing it. Sorry about your valve caps.
In fact, I feel like I'd like to try that now! I have 2 mountain bikes worth about a grand each. So the perpetrators could be shocked and to add insult to injury, taken for grand theft...
I used to take those things when I was a kid. We didn't think anything of it. We used them on our bikes, and then just made it a point to see who could find the coolest ones. We called them "Chromies". kids have been doing this for ages.
flash forward to years later. I caught some kinds taking them from cars at church one day, luckily they didn't get mine yet so I chased them off. I had nice anodized blues caps (on my blue 76 Firebird at the time), so I took those off and put the plastic black ones on unless I was at a car show, then I put the blue ones back on.
I've had the chrome ones stolen off my Vette before too. Now I just keep the cheap plastic black ones one.
i had some kids come up at a fast food restaurant once on their bikes and actually ASK me if they could have my valve caps LOL. I was like NO! you can buy your own just down the street at the autoparts store for a few dollars! they were like "but we want YOURS because they are COOL!". they were the SAME caps that you could by at autozone for a few dollars.. nothing special... they just because special once they were put on a Corvette aparently heh.

Maybe you could run some wires with a switch from the battery to the rims.

My brothers car got broken into at the mall, he had his brand new bass guitar and amp in the back seat. They got in through the back door, climbed into the front seat and attempted to steal the radio. they managed to break the knife they were using to try and pry it out, and left with the face plate. The morons left the guitar and amp.
Hey while we're on the subject - has anyone heard of a coupe top being stolen?
My wife surprised me this week by getting me a Zip catalogue for C4s and in there I found a set of security locking bolts for the top - is this a common problem? Should I be worried about someone nicking my top?
Jumped into the car one monday morning and "what the f#&$?!". My Momo steering wheel was missing That was bad but the bastard pried open the passanger side door lock the driver's side was unlocked
PS. I'm still looking for a bright red Momo Monte Carlo wheel in the Manchester, NH area

thieves need to be strong-armed to the pavement and bounced off it a few times, in rapid succession.
Thats a bugger Tommy, its a pity you couldnt have caught them in the act mate...
Gday Hot Rod, those caps are not cheap here mate yeah, and its unusual that people would bring their own tools to remove them too, they mustve had a couple goes at them in order to A: know they were there, and B: know they needed a tool.....
I'm currently looking for an IP security solution that can be viewed through the web. One with motion dectors and can be recorded. Something like this one.
